The QFF CEO event thread (and AFF associated interactions)

Just added up the past 12 months flying - just under 6000 SC's earned, only 2250 SC's on QF. Requalified platinum weeks after new membership year, thinking that I am now moving to AA. I have 54,000 BIS Miles between now and the end of this calendar year, all booked at B or above - so thats...

What Does The Noob Status Matched QFF Need to Look Out For?

I think it is fair to say that Virgin didn't meet the expectations I had set up in my head. Certainly the lounge product was well below my expectations (particularly given the rave reviews that have appeared on here). I think the lack of hot food and spirits put the lounge product well behind...

What Does The Noob Status Matched QFF Need to Look Out For?

I did my first Virgin flights on Sunday and Tuesday - CBR-SYD-BNE-CBR Up to BNE was booked as a Flexi fare, and back was whatever the cheaper fare is. I should start by saying I was looking forward to giving VA a go, I'm a 5000 SC/year QF guy, i normally fly Y Domestically on QF, and sharing...

    Will Qantas respond??

Agree with the sentiment. I wonder what people are genuinely excited about in the Virgin Program. Im WP with QF (about 5000 SC's a year) and yep I applied for the status match, but I don't see what the excitement is with the VA Program. Velocity Platinum seems very much a halfway house...

Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

I have often wondered this about Qantas, it often appears their staff are allowed to "get away" with ignoring policies - both at the airport and on board. There really are days when you wonder if senior management should just buy a range of fares (Y through to F) and travel as real humans for...

    Sheraton Mirage,Gold Coast

I haven't been to the Mirage for a couple of years - but that line is pretty damning given the hotel was opened in 1987 so is just under 25 years old! Lol I always found it a bit of a throwback to the Skase era - gold taps and cane furniture. But '70's might be just a bit too harsh

Is there really a need for an 'international terminal?'

No the swipe of the passport is now just part of the process of checking in to an international flight - and the rate of error would likely be the same as an immi agent not swiping/hitting the right button ie tiny. As I see it the only downside is for transiting pax - my thought would be if you...

Is there really a need for an 'international terminal?'

Doesn't really happen in the US these days either - the green slip stapled in your passport is a thing of the past.

Lunch invitation for the Qantas Corporate Travel Show in Canberra: Are you coming?

Re: Lunch invitation for the Qantas Corporate Travel Show in Canberra: Are you coming I got two invites - one to the morning tea, one to lunch - lunch was addressed to me as a WP, morning tea as a "Valued Customer" or some such.

Is there really a need for an 'international terminal?'

hmmm - prior to Sept 11 Family/Friends/Anyone could get past security in the US, so that component of US travel has nothing to do with airports potentially being international. The difference in US airports is there is no real outbound immigration check (it is done by the airlines at check in)...

    Wireless in TBIT OW Lounge

I find it quicker to walk between Terminal 4 and TBIT - only hassle is having to re-clear security, but even that seems to be easier than the sightseeing trip of LAX, and the sometimes pretty horribly crowded holding pen where the bus leaves from. I usually walk off the plane, walk over to the...

    Wireless in TBIT OW Lounge

I wondered if that might be the technical solution :)

    Wireless in TBIT OW Lounge

Was in the LAX TBIT Lounge the other night (again), and could not get wireless access from my iPhone or iPad (again), was wondering if there was some trick I didn't know. Got given the little piece of paper at lounge check in, and could connect to the one world hotspot, but beyond that nothing...

    Upcoming Qantas Frequent Flyer Changes

I must say I am a bit surprised about the distress that changes to the status bonuses has caused. I have never considered them to be that exciting previously - 5000 points is hardly the most difficult thing to come by these days, certainly compared to when they first appeared following the end...

    Upcoming Qantas Frequent Flyer Changes

Hi Red Roo (and lurkers from Qantas), I am one of your 3600 SC+ FF's, I had a look this afternoon at my currently booked travel and will have reached 3600 Status Credits by November (FF Year ended at the end of April), I know how many SC's worth of travel I have booked because I sat down and...

PSR - Permanent Status Rating - what's yours and how do you think you have benefitted

Re: PSR - Permanent Status Rating - what's yours and how do you think you have benefi Im in a very similar position - hung out until 2002 to join, just made LTG, so 14,000 odd SC's in 9 years, so PSR is about 1550 - but very heavy activity over the past 5 or so years - PG for the past 4...

    Noritake Marc Nelson plates -where?

I remember something in an Australian Way about Qantas changing the online shop to effectively allow you to furnish your house as a Qantas Club/First Lounge, but it has not yet happened (I have always secretly wanted a clickety clack departures board in my living room), and the leather cutlery...

    Qantas Club Guest Pass

Ok, so heres an update. Piece of plastic still hasn't arrived, called Qantas on Wednesday night, promised that a supervisor would call today (thats after the same supervisor promised to call me earlier in the week and didn't), called in this evening having not got a call. Upshot, they...
