In my experience, VA's partner SQ has excellent coverage of Asia and usually has reward flight availability. VA SG/WPs also get very good lounge access in Australia and Asia even if flying SQ Y.

Not sure where that came from, but clearly VA is better in terms of its FF program. It is easy to redeem points for J flights on international partners. See also the Steve Hui analysis referred to in ean earlier post.

No. it's a Qantas "enhancement" (TM).

Qantas doesn't care, for so long as total demand is exceeding total supply (due to artificial constraints imposed by the Australian govt / CL members) QF planes are reasonably full with pax paying high prices.

It's super-easy to just ring the number, and they book it for you fee-free if you say the website does not work. Takes 60 seconds if you know your dates/times. DO NOT perservere with the website!

Yes, I can second India as requiring cash still. Even a couple of the major historic sites only took cash and fairly significant sums at that (by local standards) eg 600 rupees for foreign tourist entry. However, there is an extensive ATM network and none of them that I used took a local fee...
