The view or two from my "office"

I wonder how many people blurt out "Blessed are the cheesemakers"? - and im guessing not terribly amusing to the Italians!

    Escape - travelling with Covid.

Fab TR thanks - in freezing Melbourne it's rather nice to see some sun. Actually in lockdown Melbourne it's even nicer to see snaps from outside our borders! These remind me of a marvellous holiday we had in Port Douglas; we stayed in a very economical apartment & did a daytrip up to Cape Trib...

    Scams like these

Every few days I'll get a call on my mobile - one ring only then hangup. Sometimes I'll get 2 0r 3 . From very weird sounding places. I know they are robo calls, but what's the aim? To capture my contacts? I don't use my phone for emails so I can't work out what the scam would be

What's the best travel upgrade you've received?

I just remembered the last - appropriately it will have been our last o/s trip ever. 8 years ago, travelling to France for 3 weeks in Paris for our 40th wedding anniversary - I got a part time job for 4 years to save up the money, & then my cousin's wedding in San Tropez. Travelled J on SQ...

The view or two from my "office"

Reminds me how hysterically funny my English cousins found my remark (well they found a lot of things I said very amusing) on my first visit - 'Oh look white swans"

What's the best travel upgrade you've received?

Another fab upgrade was when we'd been to meet our backpacking daughter in Rome - she and her pal had been away for 6 months. We fluked business seats on a special deal with Emirates for Collingwood - way back at the start. So by departure time we were pretty knackered after 5 weeks away. MrMac...

What's the best travel upgrade you've received?

Had flown to Boston with SIL & BIL to our (favourite) niece's graduation from Boston Uni in 98. A most splendid occasion. Afterwards my SIL's friend had booked accommodation over that internetty-webby thing - we had visions of arriving in NY sans accommodation and deposit. The friend had booked...

The Drrons do some low flying heading West

I think after we've emerged from lockdown, and with international air travel stymied for some considerable time, we'll set about exploring Oz, and get a new appreciation of what a beautiful and interesting country we live in. Even for those who've travelled quite a bit there's surely still heaps...

The Drrons do some low flying heading West

Drron this may be a silly question but why would they need a customs house in Goondawindi? As far as I recall it's in the middle of Woop Woop

    Flights from Hell

Catching a flight back from LHR-MEL I was in the exit row in Y. A small dark foreign woman (I'm going to say eg Romanian) sat next to me. In a singlet top so the black hairy armpits were visible. OK she looked like she had a couple of tarantulas shoved in there. And she stank. Not just smelly...

The view or two from my "office"

From freezing lockdown Melbourne, would appreciate more snaps as the rest of you get out and about! At least I'm getting some good ideas for a holiday or two when we re emerge

    Coronavirus (COVID-19) Panic Buying?

I'm unsure if AFF'ers in other states to Vic have seen some of our prize examples of stupid people around. However one DYKWIA is sick of covid as she's "done every street in Briiighton' - and I've just seen a little shop advertising online a mask with that printed on. Brilliant marketing and...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

not to mention the poor employees who then can't work while the cleaning is taking place.I think as we have had the more stringent rules in place long enough for everyone to understand, the fines and other penalties should be increased. Maybe the thought of copping a $5,000 fine instead of a...

    2020 Travel Plans

I'm not sure how to start a thread - many people more experienced than I on FF. What about one where we can write about one or two memorable experiences on our travels? EG one of mine was in Paris, we'd rented a little apartment near Saint Suplice, with a music/theatre/dance school at the end of...

    TV series discussion {'ware Spoiler Alert}

I saw that the newest season of Line of Duty was available on Stan. We watched about 10 minutes and then turned it off - we were so confused. Now we've gone back to the start & I'm so glad we did. We are still confused! Maybe not quite so much and goody now we have a nice solid 5 seasons to get...

    Building a Home

Take your biggest kitchen utensil - it's usually the soup ladle! - & test it out in the utensil drawer. Almost always utensil drawers are made to the same dimensions as the cutlery drawer &not deep or wide enough to contain all the equipment
