Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

To be clear, I was in the front of the priority queue - it's just nobody was there, and when I got the attention of the person handling the economy queue, she just gestures at the economy queue.

Has Google Maps Lost the Plot

I mean, it's possible it's a bug, but I find generally the explanation is one of; Your GPS location is a bit off and is near the station but not in the station. It thinks you have to go all the way around to a crossing to get to the train station or something stupid, so it decides it's better...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Dinner on last night's VA1537 (HBA-SYD) Food was great, although wish VA did 3 choices instead of just one VG and one non-VG FA was nice and friendly, although when I declined their offer of alcohol / wine, they followed up with a lot of "are you sure", "it's still sunday" etc. - I'm sure...

    Qantas Hotels - Seriously WTF?

From looking at the code, it looks like Qantas Hotels passes coordinates (30.516281, 103.992002) to Google Maps for display, not the address. As noted previously, Google Maps displays this with an offset due to the obfuscation of map data used in China mentioned earlier, but this doesn't explain...

JAL 777-300ER back on Sydney route

OK, in that case it sounds like a genuine delay then and not due to potentially landing before the curfew, since if it was just the curfew then they should've still arrived on time.

JAL 777-300ER back on Sydney route

Did it arrive on time though? If so I reckon it doesn't really matter. I find JL51 never leaves on time but still arrives on time because their schedule is so padded. If they leave at the scheduled time, the padding means they arrive too early for SYD as the scheduled arrival time is already...

    Qantas' New A321XLR

I'm basing this on what analyticflying has claimed in their article here and they seem to know what they're talking about. I think @evanb is the writer there so could comment more here.

    Qantas' New A321XLR

As I understand, the regular 321N will be a bit limited for transcon ops (and maybe Queenstown/Wellington etc.?) when taking into account freight etc. The LR has reduced freight volume due to the fuel tank placement, hence Qantas deciding on the XLR which doesn't have this limitation.

    Fiji airlines changing planes

Especially if they're (presumably) codesharing with AA and customers are booking through AA

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

I assume you're looking for Business Class. Generally if you're looking at less than a year out, there'll be no availability unless JAL has just done a random drop of award space (happens rarely). However, you can generally reliably find JAL award space if you look at the end of the calendar...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Yes, although this should be a surprise to nobody given they're also very popular routes (and you can't book CR+ unless CR is sold out)

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

I wonder if it'll be a new approach for additional domestic rewards, given Classic+ doesn't cover domestic at the moment.

    Qantas' New A321XLR

If they're going to operate this on SYD-MEL or any other 1 hour-ish route, surely they're gonna need more staff serving business class if it's full with 20 pax?

    Qantas' New A321XLR

I hope the new WiFi hardware can keep up with everyone streaming video. The current 737 WiFi can sorta do it, but not reliably. I admit I'm disappointed. I was hoping for seats closer to what Cathay have in their A321neo - not lie flat, but still a lot better than a basic recliner.

LHR -Florence - a Mystery Route it seems....

It's possible, but I've flown routes not in the calculator and had it credit correctly. For instance, I flew Matsuyama to Fukuoka last year on JAL

LHR -Florence - a Mystery Route it seems....

After the upgrade, do you get a new e-ticket or not? I reckon what's happened is; 1. BA's IT sent Qantas the wrong data, or they've changed the internal representation of this type of upgrade without considering its impact on 3rd party FFPs (non-BAEC), causing Qantas to read it as an Award...

LHR -Florence - a Mystery Route it seems....

Did you use the "Upgrade my class of travel with money" option in Manage Booking? I think in theory that should earn full Avios and SC when credited to BAEC, so it seems strange that they'd send "U" as the booking class to Qantas

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Generally if they're gonna pop up they would pop up when these flights are loaded into the system. If you can book (cash) the new flights but see no award seats, then bad luck. JAL sometimes releases a batch of seats later, but there's no way to guess when that'll happen.

Error with Payment on Completing Award booking

Record that booking reference, then call up and explain online payment failed, and that you'd like to pay for it. They should be able to take payment over the phone.

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Ah yeah, the answer was no. They couldn't even print a boarding pass or bag tag for the flight the next day, so I still had to visit a check-in desk in Melbourne. I suppose I got to use the Melbourne F check-in for the first time.
