flight credit for less than amount?

It makes a little more sense if you consider that a flight credit is actually just a ticket change where you get to decide on what you're changing to later. In practice in the GDS it's just changing your ticket to a flight from Fictitious Point to Fictitious Point, and then when you redeem your...

flight credit for less than amount?

You can split it, but I'm pretty sure you can only use each flight credit for one person (maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong). You won't generate any additional fees by splitting it first.

Qantas SCs with Cathay Business Light

No, those horizontal fare products only apply to Economy. In PE, J, and F they map directly to booking class.

Qantas SCs with Cathay Business Light

The discount business / business distinction doesn't exist for partner bookings iirc. What's important is the fare class letter, not the name of the fare. I do believe last time I checked all Cathay business fares are eligible for earning as Business. What fare class are you trying to book?

Qantas Premier Platinum limited benefit for Darwinites

I know the Titanium card is switching to a self booking web portal later this year, is this the case for the Platinum too? Maybe you can try with the portal once it's out instead of relying on the call centre.

Points stolen from nearly 1000 QFF members by overseas contractor

Well, it seems like they are accessing future flights as well and changing the FF number on those flights (that was the incident in the article), so they'd need access to the GDS at least, right? It makes sense as, I think check-in agents can pull that info up. With that said, the whole...

Fraud on Velocity Frequent Flyer accounts

I was reading a thread on FlyerTalk last year (sorry can't find it now) talking about how some scammers are able to pull off scams where they sell tickets to customers (usually they meet them on Social Media promising premium class tickets at a discount off the regular cash fare) that end up...

    Jetstar Domestic Business

Previously when travelling on Jetstar 787s on domestic routes, you could only book economy and then seat select into Business as an "Extra Legroom" seat. See AFF article from the time: How to Get a $32 Jetstar Business Class Seat Upgrade Now, it seems like you can book a proper business ticket...

Fraud on Velocity Frequent Flyer accounts

Would also love to see Passkey support from Virgin (and Qantas). AirNZ has it, and it's great.

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

I don't think UA would be pleased to see QR Aircraft flying on Australia/US routes, even if it is technically a VA flight.

The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

The new Qantas Points calculator is generally good, but it's missing some of Qantas' own routes! In fact it's missing QF1, their flagship route! You're telling me Qantas offers First Class from SIN to SYD, but not from SYD to SIN?

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Just called at 10:10pm AEST, got Hobart (first time getting Hobart in a long time). Tried QF292/36/38 all with ~2 I seats in November - all declined. Was able to get First Class released on QF (A5) released from SIN-SYD though. Not my preferred option, but it is still an option. Currently...

    eSims, what is your experience.

Yeah, it's a bit of a messy setup depending on the phone, but it's the feature called "Allow cellular data switching" (iPhone), "Switch mobile data automatically" (Pixel), or "Backup Calling" (Samsung). Depending on the phone, it will either just work if enabled if your Telstra SIM is roaming...

    eSims, what is your experience.

I *think* this happened with the migration to the Upfront plans, since there's no more PAYG roaming. Anyway, I usually just have my phone set up so my Telstra SIM "WiFi" calls through my second local data SIM, so I can make/receive calls and SMS at any time whilst overseas (even when...

    eSims, what is your experience.

Yeah, that's how it works. Calls when you're connected to wifi are not considered roaming. If you want to receive calls over the mobile network, you'll need a roaming day pass. I'm surprised it didn't go to MessageBank though.

...or use Telstra WiFi calling whilst overseas to make calls and send SMS for free :) I do wish there was one carrier that had both cheaper daily roaming ($5 - Optus & Vodafone) and free WiFi calling whilst overseas (Telstra) but alas

    eSims, what is your experience.

Has anyone used RedTeaGo directly before? My understanding is that a lot of the new smaller providers are just reselling their services. Also I believe the Klook eSIMs are rebadged RedTeaGo. I might give them a shot next time instead of my usual choice (Ubigi) as they're slightly cheaper, but...

    eSims, what is your experience.

Yeah it's still an eSIM per plan, as they're just reselling carriers in HK, Thailand etc. with cheap roaming plans.

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

You can upgrade Classic Rewards, and a Classic Upgrade Reward is your best chance as opposed to using the Bid Now system, since they are processed first.

Fraud on Velocity Frequent Flyer accounts

I'm still curious how people are getting hacked - is Velocity customer service getting social engineered? Is it just reused passwords? Phishing? A weak link in the password recovery system for Velocity accounts (as in, it asks for information that can be found from other data breaches etc.)
