    The Operational Upgrade Thread

I got an Op up on QF10 from LHR to SIN on March 5th. Was originally in Y, but with the promotion to upgrade with points on upcoming flights, I applied to go into Y+. The Y+ upgrade came through about 12 hours early and I was pretty happy to be sitting in the top deck of the A380 or so I...

    Long layover in Los Angles

Re: 9 hour Layover at LAX Unless things have changed in 2 months, Qantas have a check-in desk open all the time at TBIT, so you should be able to do an early check-in and go sightseeing anyway.

    Long layover in Los Angles

Re: 9 hour Layover at LAX Hi mjdonovan, I would agree with a few of the suggestions on the thread so far. I took the Big Blue Bus from TBIT to Santa Monica on my last visit and found it both light on the pocket compared to a cab or hirecar (at US$1 each way). I liked not having to worry...

First Tax & Duty Free/SYD Tax & Duty Free cease to be QFF partners eff 21/2

Just one from the left field, but could it be that Qantas put up the amount that it costs Nuance to purchase the points, so its not worth the trouble given that they hold the monopoly for all alcohol purchases anyway?

Should long term Qantas Club membership be recognised?

Sorry to be blunt Trimmer, but in my opinion QANTAS CLUB members are getting exactly what they pay for, which is access to the QP. Qantas (and other businesses) are shrew enough to put in the old saying of 'we reserve the right to alter the terms and conditions of this membership'. Credit...

    GST'ing online purchases discussion

Your spot on Mal.... I also love how Gerry puts himself out as being a leader in the adoption of technology: "Mr Harvey said the launch of his own online store in the 1990s had been another example of bad timing. ''When I opened my site, I was doing $30,000 a week turnover, so I closed it...

    QFF Ideas & Suggestions

I've been following this thread and hadnt really been able to come up with anything new that wasnt already in the board..... until now. One thing that i really miss in the Qantas Economy service is the pre-dinner drink after we have leveled out. The first time i got one on my trip to LHR a few...

New Next Gen Card and Bag Tags have arrived!

I was on QF93 which came in about the same time as QF11. I was very surprised to get the beep as it was my first time in a non whY Qantas seat. Especially nice after having to fly ABX-SYD-MEL-LAX because the SYD-LAX direct flight got canceled. Now here is hoping that BA beep me on the flight...

New Next Gen Card and Bag Tags have arrived!

I must have been one of those people you saw df. I was walking around looking for the new tags also. I was also expecting a long wait also and was really surprised to get through so quick. I even managed an OP on the way over which was great. The one downside was that the QF desk in ABX...

Ever wondered what happens in the coughpit of an A380 during an emergency

Your spot on markis10 and the boys from the podcast go to great lengths to explain this. There was over 100 years flight experience on deck for QF31 which is explained as well .

Ever wondered what happens in the coughpit of an A380 during an emergency

If you were ever worried about the professionalism of Qantas pilots then this podcast is brilliant listening... It had me captivated. In the audiofile the guys from the Plane Crazy DownUnder podcast spend a great deal of time talking to "Captain Richard Woodward, Vice President of the...

    International Card Payment Fee increasing

Perhaps it's getting close to coming up on IMF's radar after they finish with the banks and their gouging of fees. I'm not holding my breathe with the ACCC given their lack of teeth... Small risk to QF for large return.

BA booking in AA metal seat selection

BF booking in AA metal seat selection I must admit Spruce I didn't even look at the J fares. I got the Y fare with a post booking upgrade to Y+ for less then AU$1000 which I thought was pretty reasonable.
