    Upcoming: Travel Bank

I have used multiple credits to make new bookings, there are no restrictions on the fare and can be used for all fare classes. They waive the call centre fee and honour internet fares if its a compensation credit, but if you chose to cancel it then you pay the phone fee and call centre rates...

    Priority luggage, enough is enough.

Virgin seem to be able to manage it much better for me and the use mostly 737's so I dont think the excuse of not having a separate area sticks. The worst port I've found either on QF or VA is CNS so I'm not sure why it seems so bad there. Everywhere else has been often the first bag out.

Sabre/New website problems - all my status credits are gone!

I had the same issue showing number of SC required to maintain Plat was back to 800. Spoke to Velocity and they are aware of it and the history is still there and will be fixed. The assured me that my status is safe and I have since checked and it is all fixed for me.

SCs to be earned on Velocity Reward bookings (6mo promotion) [AusBT]

With the Sabre change I think the 'H' class is no longer used and is replaced with X for Y, P is for PE and Z is J. It was on one of the Sabre updates for travel agents doing the rounds as part of the fare restructure. Sorry but cant remember the link.

    ESTA question.

You need to go and update your ESTA application with your new address. I have used my current application a dozen times and you only need to update it each time. You will need your original ESTA number.

The differences between Qantas and Virgin Australia

I've never seen that Virgin brush or toothpaste. When was this from? I have only had Colgate toothpaste from VA/DJ both To LAX and Domestically.

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

The cycles seem to change ok on the flights i've been on. Asked one of the crew once and each port has a set cycle so all flights out of SYD will have meal x that week, next week SYD will have meal y and meal x would then be put on the cycle for flights from MEL. Idea according to the CC was so...

    A330 Old Config J seating

All of the seat maps show the "new" config until a few days before the flight when the aircraft is allocated to that flight, then you will notice on some flights the seat map has changed to now include middle seats.

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Depends what cycle they're on. Last mid-afternoon snack i had on a flight about 2 weeks ago was a zucchini fritter, fruit salad and a cupcake thing. was very nice.

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Slightly off topic but my favourite is the Moroccan Lamb. Im glad it is now served on other routes and not just on the trans con. I had the chorizo pasta bake on my most recent flight and i didn't mind it (and that was before the drinks haha). Not the best meal but i was happy with it. Overall...

    Virgin LAX Lounge

Yeah the old Alaskan Lounge changed to VA when Alaskan moved terminals. VAA was a temporary measure and VX now run and manage the space that was the Alaskan Lounge. It was closed for a little while for refurb to happen. They are still waiting on a liquor licence

    Ask The Pilot

Pilots have to follow SIDs (Standard Instrument Departures) and STARs (Standard Arrival Route). These are charts/maps of the course they must follow when taking off or landing. Often to ensure aircraft avoid hazards, maintain separation and for noise abatement. example. departing Sydney 16L...

    Enough is Enough

Only ever had nuts from a packet and cheese and crackers from the cart when asked and not as a meal. The "cheese plate" in the early days was pretty pathetic but in the 60+ flights this year with DJ, I haven't been left hungry. Qantas offer a "snack" in J on some of their flights so I think they...

Who here have FF status soley based on holiday/personal self paid travel

the split for me is roughly 40/60 with more leisure than business in 2012. 2011 was more the other way. Also it was done without a status match and no DSC offers. It includes a mix of mostly domestic and a handful of international trips on VA/NZ. Total trips this year is almost at 70 with a...
