    Unspoken Rule of Air Travel

I've seen them in QF F lounges, and sometimes it turns out they are in a band.

    paid for at Gate upgrade

JAL has been offering a 1,000 Yen (about $10US) upgrade from Y to what they call "Class J" (domestic J) for a while now. It's offered space-available, but is well worth it in my view.

What is Jila? Is it like Mint Assure? (A capsule with parsley seed oil that sops up garlic and onion odors from the inside, if sufficient quantities are taken.)

    Unspoken Rule of Air Travel

I, too, always take off my shoes and socks. Since my feet get hot, I never wear socks on the plane (but I always do when wearing shoes). I also keep my feet clean, so there is zero odor. I've been subjected to pax with terrible BO on flights. Sadly, those pathetic air vents can't overwhelm...

    Unspoken Rule of Air Travel

Seoul, I think, recently switched from walking on the left/standing on the right to the other way around, although they still drive on the left. On a recent visit, it seems that many people, especially older ones who were undoubtedly raised to walk left, can't or won't adjust. The result is...

Exactly! Odor comes from bacteria living in old sweat.

Why is it only Americans who shouldn't do this?

    Unspoken Rule of Air Travel

Why would they care? Here in the States, it's quite common to see people in shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops in business and even first.

Well, sure, most people also love such stories, which is why the urban legends featuring them are created and spread. As strange as it is for me to think there are people who care that someone who doesn't look like a "typical business man" is in business class, it's mind-boggling to think...

    Unspoken Rule of Air Travel

Personally, I wouldn't want to walk in the bathroom (or anywhere on a plane) barefoot, but why should it bother you if someone else does it? Them walking barefoot doesn't make my feet dirty. :p

A work colleague has such a model and uses it on all overnight flights. I've been told that cpap.com has an extensive collection of models including ones suitable for use in-flight.

One contributor to the problem is airline food (especially in the air, but lounges too) which is often packed with excessive garlic.

In business on an AA 767 LAX-JFK, the woman in the window seat next to me sat slouched in her seat, with her legs straddling the seat in front, left foot on the armrest of the seat in front, right foot on the center console between the seats.

If this was AA, then presumably this was done at the check-in kiosk and not with a check-in agent nor at the gate. AA offers to sell upgrades via the kiosk when there are enough empty premium seats that they know they won't sell and they won't need them for frequent flyers who have requested...

Qantas to Grow A380 Fleet and Launch Melbourne-London A380 Services

Probably this has been discussed elsewhere, but I'm curious why QF chose SYD-LAX over SYD-LAX-JFK for the A380.

Buying miles as an option for cheap tickets

I haven't verified the miles needed for the award, but assuming it's 30,000 as you say, then it sounds like a sweet deal. You could try checking availability first, put an award itinerary on hold, buy the miles, and hope they show up before the hold expires. They say "allow up to 72 hours" but...

AA allows I, O and Q Upgrade Awards - and some higher co-pays coming

DONEx books into D, so it is treated the same as any other D fare for upgrades. Or easier, depending on the situation. If you're in coach and want to upgrade to business, someone who booked I can now upgrade to first, making his seat available for you to upgrade into.
