Premium Y - LAX to SYD

You're dead right. Getting off the A380 and onto a 747 back to LHR made the Boeing's fit-out seem so dated and aged in comparison. Of course it's not, it's just going from a brand-spanking new plane to one that's been around for who knows how long that certainly gives that impression. Anyhow, I...

Premium Y - LAX to SYD

That's an excellent option. It's worth noting though that Y+ is selling very well apparently so there might be more chance of finding a J seat than a Y+ seat on points..

Premium Y - LAX to SYD

I flew Premium Economy for the first time on QF2 the other day. It's a fantastic option. I think it's much closer to J than it is to Y. I'll put up a trip report on it this week as it doesn't look as though anyone has reported on it here yet(?). There was some suggestion on here that...

    AA Platinum Challenge for Expat

I flew Premium Economy on that route last week. A fantastic option when you are paying the fare yourself. Stacks of room, good standard of food too. We were very pleasantly surprised by the standard all over. The bad news is if you're trying for a points upgrade it's a small cabin and the FAs...

Work paying for F and J flights

I understand that government travel policy says MPs should use their FF points for official travel "whenever possible", but because of the need for flexibility it's not often "possible". Very convenient. :)

Terraces Lounge next to Gate 1 at LHR

Not the case for me Dave. I've been in and out of 25+ times this year and I've been asked to produce it maybe three times? That could be my honest face though. :) Restrictions in place here at the moment (like no QC guests or no QC access at all in some instances) are capacity-control...

Terraces Lounge next to Gate 1 at LHR

OK I am at said lounge now and by standards elsewhere it's very busy here - although the BA Customer Service lady says it's quiet by normal standards tonight. God forbid. Very, very full from my arrival at about 7pm. They almost wouldn't let us in (I've just gone from Silver to Gold and my new...

    AVOD Compo

Long haul J and thats all you got? Your fare was devalued by a lot more than fifty bucks that day. I wouldn't be leaving it at that.

Writing to Qantas Head Office & Customer 'Care'

I wrote a letter of complaint to BA, faxed it to them and had a phone call within 24 hours, followed by a letter and £300 in credit vouchers within the week. I have written to Qantas once with no response at all.

    Qantas launches iPhone site [merged]

I read in one of the airline magazines, in a story about how much money has been saved by getting rid of paper tickets, that airlines are now looking at ways of getting rid of paper boarding passes. The story claimed that Qantas will be introducing technology that allows your mobile device (they...

    QFF Free membership?

Yes, tax evasion is the term.

    QFF Free membership?

Actually, I take that back. I was renewing a QC membership at the time, not joining QFF, and it's during that process that they apply or don't apply GST on the bill based on where you're living...so I think you might be right.

    QFF Free membership?

If you are an Australian resident, and claim not to be for this purpose, you are not charged a fee that you should be and the tax that it includes. It's minor, but it is tax avoidance. I was in this position my self (legitimately living in London), and Qantas spells this out clearly to you...

    QFF Free membership?

Be aware that using a foreign postal address if you're an Australian resident also avoids the GST component, and is therefore tax avoidance. Your conscience might let you get away with it though depending on how much tax you otherwise pay Mr Swan, but it will be a T&C violation as you'll see...

Are the worst seats always a given for Awards bookings?

You can get preallocated through a travel agent at the time of booking.

Are the worst seats always a given for Awards bookings?

Can anyone advise on the seat allocation process as it applies to Award seats on the SYD-LHR QF/BA codeshare route? I ask this because the in-laws flew outbound in the worst possible seats, and as they’re old and lining-up for hip replacements, etc, asked BA how to improve things for the return...
