Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Simply a ploy to encourage more vaccinations. Hold out a carrot and a few bunnies will bite.

Tokyo Haneda slot - How will Virgin Operate it? [CNS-HND flights ceased Feb '25]

Not so farfetched! ANA might have done their homework and discovered how many Japan-bound South Australian (not just Adelaide) passengers are forced to connect in MEL or SYD. Could also open up a new market.

Virgin Australia > Velocity cleans up at the Freddies [Again]

Velocity may well be the Program of the Year~ for all the wrong reasons! The big Velocity wins are turning out to be Virgin's swansong. Going out in a blaze of confected glory! Just shows how lame the Freddies are.

Why do baggage handlers throw baggage?

I heard that at least one major airport this was regularly the first job after leaving prison, or on parole, for many.

Qantas Business Class customers bumped to economy in Tokyo

I would think that there would be at least a couple of passengers in J cabin who had no status at all who should have been targeted before even a Bronze member. Not that it appears to apply in this instance, I wonder whether a J passenger of any stripe who is registered on that flight as...

QF survey on a new OW benefit

Whatever scheme is agreed upon, you can bet Qantas will be super-heavy on spin, but light on worthwhile results. Across the OW alliance there will need to be substantial shifts in policy for this to be an attractive proposition. Otherwise it will only present niche opportunities scarcely worth...

Closing overhead bins before take off

I do the same. Works maybe 90% of the time.

Airlines eye new slots at Haneda (Tokyo)

I believe it would be a mistake for Qantas to move MEL-NRT to MEL-HND. For OW connections the existing arrangement is good. HND is progressively a *A hub, and provides a seamless connection of ANA flights to Europe and other destinations. The land transfer between NRT and HND is a royal PITA in...

Angry pax declines to Raise Reclined Seat During Service...

CX crew (and most other airlines) are reluctant to ask anything that may cause a confrontation. If there in no announcement at the beginning of meal service to raise seatbacks in Y it should be done if anyone complains prior to or during meal service. It then becomes an instruction from crew and...

    Cabin Temperatures?

Many of even the cheapest of the digital luggage scales also have a temperature function. I keep mine in my HL.

    Cabin Temperatures?

Some digital bag scales also have a thermometer function (no idea why). I took this out of my HL and recorded the air temp (24C) when the FA dismissed my assertion it was too hot It got turned down pretty quickly to 21C, supposedly. This was CX F cabin HKG-JFK.

QFF EK Award Booking ex-EU downgraded from F to J

@pks. You shouldn't fall for that logic! The same thing would have happened to me if I fell for that; re-read my post above and re-open your refund request. Escalate as far as needed to get what you want.

QFF EK Award Booking ex-EU downgraded from F to J

Had the same problem earlier this year with Qantas award in F EK HKG-DXB leg, due to substitution to a 2 cabin aircraft. Was offered 5,000 pts compensation which I refused to accept. The flight was imminent, so took it (EK 2 cabin Business is cough for those wondering) and resumed my claim on...

Potential changes to QF awards - amount of points and cash needed, & number of award seats released

It's always disappointing that QFF always dresses up negative news such as program devaluations as 'enhancements'. You would think that the endless derision from the entire FF community each so-called enhancement cops, would persuade the PR spin types to drop this deceptive expression. Or maybe...

No show on A380 between checking in with luggage and boarding

Should you suddenly decide not to fly after check-in, go to ANY manned desk of the airline you are booked with and tell someone! That info will be passed on pronto. Suspend your embarrasment (fib a little if you must); just do it!
