    Platinum Charge Companion Card change

@andye @Bell21 My apology for any confusion. I was just referring to the extracted information on @Ktn89's earlier post ".... travel credit..."

    Platinum Charge Companion Card change

Hmm. Current Charge/Reserve cardholder here. Got the Charge Card 3 or 4 years back (when they for a limited time offered welcome bonus points even to existing members with credit cards). Back then, Reserve companion card is a hidden gem and I only learnt it from other forums so I had to call up...

I can't stop myself by thinking that they are actively managing out existing customers so as to keep eligible for Jobkeeper payments 🤪

    Platinum Charge Companion Card change

That's really interesting and potentially useful though giving the hotel quarantine arrangement, I am not prepared to make domestic hotel bookings any time soon - I have this considered decision as I had to weigh what I was going to do with the StayPlus credit expiring end this month :(

    Platinum Charge Companion Card change

A yearly A$400 credit for free year after year! The suggestion is to get the Companion "Reserve Credit Card", if you are eligible (ie already holding a Platinum Card), NOT whether to apply for a Platinum Charge Card quick.

UK mulls over changes for Hong Kong citizens

Apparently Carrie Lam is a follower of Trump - "fewer tests fewer confirmed cases". She is likely a triple-spy (British/VChina/US) and should be disciplined in the (in)justice system of Communist China she embraces (on the surface)

UK mulls over changes for Hong Kong citizens

It is quite apparent that we agree in principle. However, another perspective on whether to get the HK$10k (A$2k) is - who would benefit from that saved multiples of $10k? I bet the money would only be channelled to the fat cats and/or "loyalists (to their personal interest)" colluded with the...

UK mulls over changes for Hong Kong citizens

Unfortunately there are so many of us, I mean human beings in general, are prepared to sell oneself, not to mention others or even the nation's interest, out for short-term and self-interests

UK mulls over changes for Hong Kong citizens

I definitely agree. Just to reiterate earlier comment that the scheme needs to be carefully crafted and diligently enforced to screen out infiltrators and free riders - there are too many...

UK mulls over changes for Hong Kong citizens

I know how you feel and had this "natural" sentiment. However, I then empathised with the management, in a sense, they have to do something perhaps contrary to their personal conscience, to save the business - for the protection of the employment of over tens of thousands employees, let alone...

UK mulls over changes for Hong Kong citizens

I really, sincerely hope that's the case but even in my own social circle, there is still much cheap, low level nationalism "flooding"

Sort of agreed - though it seems the situation in the US has been deteriorating with the installation of "You-know-who"

UK mulls over changes for Hong Kong citizens

I was in the group of youngsters looking forward to the reunification of HK to China back in 1980s. By that time, China was still very much a third world country (in terms of economic development, it IS still a third world country on many other measures). Then came Jun 1989... I believe HK...

    RewardPay Alternatives

Yes, but on that base, the business is limiting its target market to those with a AMEX Charge card with a monthly spend of between $4,536 ($24.95/($0.0225-$0.017)) and $20,000 per month?! $0.0225 being the assumed points value per dollar spend after the special bonus offer). No doubt some users...

I really can't figure out how it would make economic/finance sense for the cardholder (barring it offers an award scheme similar to the current AMEX Charge card bonus MR points. The Citi reward points carry so dismal value I stopped factoring it in in my use of cards. Only keep the card Citi...

My 2 cents. To me, maximum Risk free return on money in hand is 3.3% pa (mortgage offset account), so three months (Jul-Sep) is 0.825%. Min return on Charge Card in terms of Bonus MR points on current redemption special is 2.25% (ignoring the regular 2.25% that one will get no matter the timing...
