"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Okay. Neither of those came up in my paid search results in google. The Commbank one draws an immediate link to flights, but the ANZ one doesn't. The sell is attached to the points. It's several scrolls down the page before redemptions make an appearance. Ditto with the nab one...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Except it's not. I just googled 'credit card points offers'. I clicked through the first 30 links. The marketing is all about the points you receive. Not a single one mentioned redemption in any way.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

I'm still not understanding the problem. QFF are a third-party retailer here. Businesses can, and do, choose to have different pricing structures for people buying direct to those buying via third parties. Third-party retailers also can have the option to add their own margin. Whether the...

You know you are a frequent flyer when ...

Many moons ago we went to the US with the kids who were then six and four. We told them that they could 'earn' two dollars US each day they were good and they could spend their money on something they liked. If they had money left over, we'd convert whatever was left back to AUD when they got...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

I genuinely don't understand the point of this post. QF are a price taker, not a price maker here. AA and BA are fully entitled to charge whatever they please and you are fully entitled to buy or not buy from them when converted to your local currency, either AUD or QFF Points (which may or...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Reminds me of the time my brother told me he wasn’t going to fill up his car until petrol dropped back below 40c a litre.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

This is incredibly unrealistic. A lot of genuine paid J or F pax wouldn’t be booking travel 30 days out. Some barely 30 hours out. The idea that QF should be cannibalising its share of the highest value revenue pax in order to make more CR seats available is laughable.

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

QF have an international reward flight issue that's only getting worse. QFF is a net purchaser of partner awards - by a long way. Far more QFFers want to use partner awards than FFers of partner airlines want to use QF award capacity. But partner airlines, some far more than others, are...

"... we'll shortly announce a major investment to improve our Frequent Flyer program"

Isn't that entirely the point of a loyalty program? The profit made by QFF is generated by convincing average punters to pay over the odds, in a variety of ways, for things that can, on average, be acquired cheaper through other methods. EDITED TO ADD: Yesterday's presentation basically said...

    What cheeses me off

Am I the only one who thinks there's a genuine possibility that the Victorian government have issued more than 10 quintillion fines and that this reference number is simply incrementing by one each time? If you think about it, that's only 1.25 trillion fines for every Victorian. At least half...

    Best of Islay

I'm looking at a trip to Islay next year with a couple of mates. If I search for 'Islay' in the forum, there are pages of hits. But, as best I could tell, none relate to anyone who has been. Obviously whisky is a big part of why we're going, but looking for tips, recommendations on where to...

    What cheeses me off

A few years back I was on the Advisory Board for <well known charity>. When approached by a charity mugger, I'd inform them of that fact. I'd tell them that I would very happily match any donation they made to <well known charity> with an equivalent donation of my own to their charity. Not one...

    Velocity Platinum Complimentary Upgrades

Not international, but had forgot I hadn't used them and my review date is next week. MrsG and I are flying interstate on the weekend, Choice fare. Used all 4 to upgrade both of us on our return leg (let's face it, I could have used them to upgrade me only on both legs, but then there may not...

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

Just some observations from the other side of the aggregator experience. We own a place that is occasionally rented out as a holiday let. There is an in-house manager who looks after it for us and most bookings come directly but, on occasion, the in-house manager puts it up on aggregator...

AmEx requiring certified copies of driver's licence or passport of supplementary card members now?

It could be phishing, but it could be genuine. If the latter, it's not AMEX being annoying, but rather it needing to fulfil its regulatory obligations around KYC (Know Your Customer).
