Double Tree Cairns - Chopper Crashed into Roof

From The Australian "The helicopter company which owned the aircraft that crashed into a Cairns hotel has confirmed the pilot flying before it struck the building had been employed as ground crew." "Although the employee held a New Zealand CPL(H) pilot’s licence, they have never flown in...

QF with Alliance Airlines [Connecting with QR at ADL]

Ahh yes, agree, good summary...... I only travel with cabin baggage, so that is where my head was at (noting the OP was actually talking about checked baggage)...... and that (as far as I am aware) does not work exactly the same as checked baggage, as each airline can restrict what you can carry on.

Double Tree Cairns - Chopper Crashed into Roof

QPS yes...... not sure about workcover...... not a work related event (not authorised to be at work or in the aircraft)...... not a journey incident as not associated with being at work.

QF with Alliance Airlines [Connecting with QR at ADL]

Flight is with Qantas, just on Alliance metal. So everything same as you would normally expect with Qantas. Bag allowance as per Qantas website.

    Coles gift card offers

VA converts to SQ at cost of 1.55, so above example of a business seat from Sydney to Nadi will still bring you in ahead using SQ points obtained the long way from a flybuys transition (and give you the larger network).

    Coles gift card offers

And in this case, the gift card is not just a gift card, it is a prepaid "mastercard", so the $100 spend for the card itself can be a mechanism to gain points for a spend on your amex card that can ultimately be used for a mastercard transaction..... which is useful when amex not accepted, amex...

    Coles gift card offers

Bingo..... 35,500 velocity points to fly Business from Sydney to Fiji (same for Sydney to Perth)........ the use case for this is: 35,500 velocity points requires you to purchase 35.5 Coles gift cards (at 2,000 bonus flybuys a card)...... so this essentially requires you to spend $5 for 35.5...

Qantas club pass (access on Fiji airways flight)

I suspect Gold status would have a good chance, as Fiji transitions to a full Oneworld member. Qantas Club lounge member only, typically will be more restrictive and certainly would not expect that to be recognised in non Qantas lounges

Qantas club pass (access on Fiji airways flight)

I expect you will be denied entry to your Aust lounge (does not meet the rules)..... you may be lucky. I definitely would not expect you to be able to get in the Nadi Lounge (with just QF Club membership and not status). Rules can sometimes be stretched, but I would need a lot more confidence if...

    IHG bonus on buying points

Should also note that a full points based booking is fully refundable. So if you book well in advance, you can follow the dynamic pricing model and cancel and re-book when better points options become available. A bit harder to do this with a cash booking as the best fares are non-refundable.

    IHG bonus on buying points

For me it stacks up when booking their premium hotels (>$500/night) accommodation...... the flip side here though is, there are not a lot of points availability for these hotels.

What is Virgin Australia's flagship route?

XCH if a flagship, maybe short lived one....... this is a contracted service by the federal government....... tenders for the new contract closed last month!

What is Virgin Australia's flagship route?

I would be interested to see the numbers, but I would still think from a "flagship" route perspective, Brisbane would still pip, Melbourne. BNE is the foundation base (first route and first maintenance facility), BNE remains head office for the company and BNE has the most overall routes. So...

What is Virgin Australia's flagship route?

Flagship Route Conditions: 1. Route starts at its primary hub 2. Route must have a lounge at both ends 3. Route must be a long haul route (international or trans continental). So based on this = BNE to PER is the only candidate.

Is there such a thing as earning points for free?

I like the way you present this argument….. so yes you are paying for the Accor points……. ….. however if someone else stays at the same place on the same rate and does not have a linked Qantas account, they are also paying for the points, that you will receive…… so does that mean you are in fact...

Is there such a thing as earning points for free?

The $10 discount is free, you can choose to take it by signing up to flybuys and taking the discount (so long as you do nothing else to gain it)...... the Velocity points similarly are free..... if either are taken by choice without additional cost, they are free..... the only cost is to those...

What confuses you the most about award bookings ?

Same points either approach for a domestic flight. International can be worked out slightly better doing all at once, with round the world fares, or free stopovers etc. but rare in my experience. In my opinion, unless you are highly flexible book one way as soon as it is released and book the...
