Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

Welcome to AFF. Your first credit card adventure, sounds like a challenge....... - Points crediting in 5 weeks - risky - you need to apply, be successful, get the card, spend on the card and get your end of month statement, before you get the points. You will then need to transfer these points...

    Ethics of status runs

I believe that is the argument being put forward - That the status run contingent is not big enough (on any single fight) to trigger the need for extra flights, all they are doing is improving the load factors on a small contingent of existing flights. Fully appreciate the reverse argument as...

    Ethics of status runs

100% agree. For some of us, flying is a recreational activity - yes, we actually enjoy the activity of flying and sometimes more than the destination. Status runs allow you to participate in your recreational activity and make your next flights even more enjoyable (with the status it brings)...

    Help me get to Canada...

Assuming you take the SYD to SFO option; how about OAK to SEA, on Alaska Airlines? On the 22nd Dec, there is QF reward availability for four people (14K each)...... and if your ultimate destination is actually Kelowna, you can get there from OAK via SEA with QF reward availability...... but...

Skytrans to Operate Q400s for QantasLink

Yep, understood that. Just using "Dash 8" in the broad sense - Should have said "Dash 8 (200 series)" which is how they are referred to by Qantas...... they all feel the same to me when I am squished inside......

Skytrans to Operate Q400s for QantasLink

Look like they are just using the Dash 8 that is being transferred to Skytrans for the Lord Howe flights...... so looks like an extension to what has been announced https://www.qantasnewsroom.com.au/media-releases/lord-howe-island-flights/

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

Looks like the or Reef Lounge at Cairns International Terminal has finally reopened as a pay per use lounge, under the Escape Lounges banner. It was reopened for Singapore Air premium customers, but not much else has been said about it since...... but now some more details...

Jetstar cancellation and automatic refund voucher issued

Yes, but if not provided (eg. due to dodgy links, failure to communicate options etc) they have not met this. As the info provided by OP is limited in this regard, I am sitting on the OP's defence council, and putting forward an argument from that perspective. Achnokwelde it is quite possible...

Jetstar cancellation and automatic refund voucher issued

I have not been in this situation with Jetstar, so I can't claim success or failure with them. I have had very similar situation with another airline and I was successful. I formally rejected the credit that was offered and provided that rejection to the credit card company. How my case was...

Jetstar cancellation and automatic refund voucher issued

Acknowledge the Jetstar T+C's, but these do not override consumer law or the contract you have with your credit card provider. Agree, no point arguing with Jetstar they will sit with the way they have written their T+C's to avoid any commercial impact. I still think you have a case to dispute...

Jetstar cancellation and automatic refund voucher issued

I would jump online to my credit card and issue a "dispute transaction" / "chargeback" for service not provided and attach your evidence that the service was cancelled by them (i.e not provided). Don't waste your time disputing with Jetstar.

Article: Airlines, Please Stop Selling Ridiculously Tight Connections

I sit on the other side of the fence on this one....... I love the option of Ridiculously Tight Connections. It gives me the power to make the best decision for myself. Matt's example of his experience in Madrid, shows how you can actually make it work. I only travel with cabin bags, so that may...

Very disappointed about Qantas FF program

100% agree they (and all airlines) should have transparency of their award seats. Not sure about forced to have a fixed number. If they just had transparency, then competition would drive the customers to the more rewarding programs....... at the moment, I think the airlines are using their...
