Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Which will be difficult to really know. I've just had my platinum renewal and I'll be surprised in the next 12 months if I get a single VA sector. I've changed jobs which means I no longer regularly fly and my only planned trip within 12 months currently is long haul international. So why...

    SQ flight VA points

    1. If they enter their Velocity number they will get Velocity points. If they enter their KrisFlyer number they will get KrisFlyer points. You can't credit to both, only one. 2. Only if they enter their Velocity number. 3. No 4. If you enter your KrisFlyer number you get free in-flight...

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

Don't know if they would IPO it now. That's taking on board Bain have said they want to maintain majority ownership. I think the VA/QR partnership firstly needs to prove itself prior to any IPO. So if they did they are years off and probably needed to have exited to arrangement or flying VA...

    VA international for work?

There's some chance until all the regulatory hurdles are cleared there's some things not fully setup on purpose. Corporate accounts are something they don't want to risk loosing.

PER T1 and T2: walk from airport terminal to train station

You still purchase trip tickets or purchase a smartrider. Project is heavily delayed. (The new tag on / off machines rollout and them being slow is part of the issues.)

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

I'm booked on the VA/QR codeshare with the ticket issued by Qatar.

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

I contacted Qatar today via chat and they were able to assign seats. They did say they could select seating on row 35, being exit row. However, after selection it was auto-rejected. Hopefully this improves closer to the time. But at least seats are selected.

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

I just tried again. As I'm on a Qatar codeshare they now say Qatar will do the seat selection or allocated at the airport. Obviously, Qatar state to contact Virgin Australia.

Did you get an aisle seat in economy? That's where the issues seem to be.

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

I think they are just box ticking / covering themselves after the uproar after Qatar were kicked back a few years ago.

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

As my comment, QR are selling the VA flights as a codeshare as they aren't Qatar flights. As they aren't a Qatar flight they aren't going to show the "Qsuite"label.

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

Unless something has changed you cant get the seatmap, you need to call for seat reservations. I expect that "QSuite" is a Qatar trademark. I doubt VA are going to refer to it as "QSuite", just a business class seat.

VA and SQ credit run prior to devaluation suggestions?

Remember that currently VA's relationship with SQ is simply a codeshare with revenue set by SQ and rewards bookings (plus the points transfer). It's a very limited relationship as it's not a joint venture (which I think dissolved in 2020). SQ has a strong Australian presence as it probably...

    Multi-city redemption booking

Need to call. There's a workaround for revenue, not Velocity points.

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

Taking that when I called for economy seat selection, I was informed all available rows had the aisle seat blocked for accessibility bookings it would be interesting what they'd do any business class seats because they are all aisle seats lol. It's a joke. Seat selection you need to call them...

Yup this is normal. If released it's usually last minute.

Virgin 737-8 Max Business Class - No Divider

As part of business class experience you would expect that you don't really need to press the call button as the crew member would scan and check every 15 minutes or so. I have also experienced flights to PER where the business class crew member would be gone for upwards of an hour. Sometimes...

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

We're getting married overseas. Hence, flying one-way in economy is seen as a cost effective approach, whilst still treating ourselves :). But to put this to bed, sometimes there are reasons for buying one-way international fares.

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

Not at all. In cash terms: Return in business $9,000 approx Return in economy $2,100 approx Oneway economy paid $1,100 and points return in business is $1,000 for taxes. So for $2,100 get oneway economy and oneway business.

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

Not at all. One way economy is about $1,100 and a return in economy is about $2,100. So for $100 I'd sooner use the points and fly business class one way and pay for economy one way :) Think you will find this is actually more common that what you may think.
