    God Bless Air New Zealand

I have also had preferential treatment as a Gold flying economy BNE to Wellington. Water, headphones and a tablet, and often a newspaper or part of a meal. They seem to single you out and be nice, and with a smile too. All that and I get the same points and credits anyway so why not fly with them?

New options to upgrade with Virgin Australia & Velocity Frequent Flyer

Bidding for upgrades I got an interesting email overnight, offering the chance to bid for an upgrade on my upcoming BNE to SYD flight. It starts from $150 up to $350 to get me from my saver into Business. I like the idea, but I am not sure I want to spend that much without just buying the...

Best seat in Business to LA besides 5C?

Hi After saving up my points for a long time I finally have enough to go to LA, from Brisbane, in business. So my big USA trip is planned for July next year. I have booked and was able to select any seat except row 5, which I was hoping for. Is there any next best, or any must avoid seats in...

    Accessing My Bookings

Just checked and mine are fine. I do notice that when you search for flights there is a popup at the bottom asking if you want to show non secure content, and you get half a page only if you say no. Could that be blanking out your screen?

How to claim back expenses after last Friday's mess up?

No insurance. I phoned the GCC and was told to fill in the Feedback form on the website, but they didn't sound sure. I phoned again and was told to fill in the feedback form. I said I had done that but there was no way to attach receipts as they had told me to. They then said I should fill...

How to claim back expenses after last Friday's mess up?

Has anyone who had to book their own hotel on the 19th when the check in system failed actually managed to claim that back from VA? I phoned the call centre, and got directed to fill in the feedback form on their website. This does not actually allow me to attach expenses and I don't think it's...

Virgin or ANZ across the tasman for miles, points?

Sorry, I meant the other way around. Buy it from Air NZ as it's cheaper, use their lounge, but fly VA. I have flown on an Air NZ plane once, probably a stand in.

    Virgin Lounge Food

Does anyone know what the brand of the chilli sauce in the lounge at night is? They had it with a stir fried rice on Friday night in Sydney. The sauce was great. For balance, the system then crashed... But I want more of that sauce.

Virgin or ANZ across the tasman for miles, points?

Yes it's codeshare. You buy it from VA, and you fly on Air NZ.

Virgin or ANZ across the tasman for miles, points?

Virgin, using Air NZ planes, flies direct to Wellington. I have done it several times this year. 20 status credits, but it can take a while to come through, many weeks, from Air NZ. It may be worth checking the price of an Air NZ flight with The Works, as I have found that often costs as much as...

    System outage at MEL 19/07

I was in the lounge at 7pm, and the food was pretty much gone. Then the system crashed. It was not handled well. The announcements were contradictory, and we lined up for an hour just to be told that they can't actually book new flights, and it is best if we sort out our own hotels. If they...

Claiming Missing Points VIA the Email

I emailed them, and then phoned up. They had processed some of my claims part way, but not posted the points. The others they expected over 3 months before they processed them. Unfortunately that means points I could use now are not available!

Selecting a seat 48 hours in advance, does it still work?

Not too long ago I am sure I remember being able to select a seat through Update Passenger Details in My Booking, on the velocityrewards website. Now I just get the payment details and passenger details such as name. There seems to be no way except at online checkin. Is this right or am I...

    Seat selection in new system?

Eastwest101, the booking was made a couple of weeks ago. It was domestic (Adelaide to Brisbane), and I checked in with a PC, printed a paper boarding pass. OLCI seems to now allow for me to select seats before row 7, so in other words back to the way it was really (except for the selecting seats...

    Seat selection in new system?

I haven't been keeping up to date on if any of this has changed so appologies if this is old news. I am still Gold, and today was able to check in online and select 3D. I am flying Economy. The flight is tonight. So something seems to have changed, as in the past I had to go to the airport and...

    Seat selection in new system?

I've just got off the phone to what sounded like an Australian call centre. I phoned for something else and the person I got to said I was in the wrong place and transfered me. What I was told was that the first 6 rows are reserved for Plat members, and that can't be changed. This sucks. I...

    Seat selection in new system?

Thanks for the reply notzac, you have confirmed my fears! Yes Gold, and flying Brisbane to Wellington all the time, and the thought of 7 is doing my nerves in :) I will just get there early for the next flight...it's not like waking up at 4am is early enough ;)

    Seat selection in new system?

After hunting arounf the new system I saw I was in 7. I have never not been in 3, which helps with long frequent flights. I phoned the call centre in NZ this morning, as I was there, and was told that all the seats before 7 were taken. When I got to the airport I asked for a better seat and a...

    Seat selection in new system?

Does anyone know how to select a seat in the new system? If I go into Bookings, there is nothing to click, I see the booking but there are no preferences that can be changed? Not that I can see anyway?
