Spending that kind of money on the card you are sure to rack the points up quick smart. I'm pretty happy with my HSBC Qantas card. $199 annual fee, 20k points sign up bonus and free travel insurance which I am assured is a "good" travel insurance policy. Not sure what you get for the 349-900 fee...

Same thing happened to me a year ago, leaving from coughet to Mel via Singapore, the grog was in relation to the maximum 100mL(?) liquid allowed on board. Wasn't happy, but did a google when I got home and found out. The guy at the duty free shop (coughet), though friendly, wasn't too forthcoming...

Thanks a lot for that WMW - you're a legend. Just re read the triple points email, and realised it excludes liquor (as previously stated), but it also states "Earn points at our partners, Cellarmasters, Big W, BWS and Woolies". Will find out when I order the case of wine I guess. Thanks again!

Yes rainbowgirl, I made my purchase at a Woolies Liquor, which is now a BWS (re-branded a few weeks back I think), but it's attached to a Woolies in any case, not a free standing shop.

When I went earlier, and scanned my EDR card, the 20c discount was credited to my card. This was stated on my receipt and when I got home, already on my EDR account. No barcode discount on my receipt as it was credited to the EDR card. Hope this helps.
