    Smoking rates of FAs

Other than what may be in their workplace agreement, which wouldn't bother me but may have an impact on their employment status as mentioned - no it would not bother me seeing any FA drinking any more than seeing a plumber knock back a VB, a doctor or lawyer drinking wine, or a teacher drinking...

2 British girls arrested in Peru with 11kg of cocaine

... and if this is true (ie, they weren't just greedy drug smugglers and they are genuinely victims, set up, and now in a bit of strife), now any nobody in the Peruvian prison system who wants to make a name for themselves with the drug cartel, knows what they look like, sound like and a bit...

    Smoking rates of FAs

of course there is a percentage of flight crew/hosties, airline staff who smoke. If x% of the population smoke, why would we think it's different for airline staff? With long and odd hours, extended periods of time away from their families, and the necessity to eat at odd hours, it goes with...

Jetstar first 787-8 dreamliner in new livery

Re: Jet Star 787 - Looks pretty good! Got to agree it's odd that JQ get the new toys, especially when you look at the pricing difference - but not surprising since the "group" has put so much focus on Jetstar lately. Taking over some/a lot of Asian routes (as predicated by a travel industry...

    Qantas Android App arrives

Works ok and a lot "neater" than the mobile website IMO, but I only ever use the phone for checking points balances. Looks easier to search flights that the mobile website was/is. Don't know how you'd go using it for mobile check in etc - that's a bit advanced for me..

    Ashes Cricket in England 2013

Impressive photos taken from the coughpit.

Re: Pilot turns photographer Fantastic photos, I am fairly certain they have been linked to here before as I've seen them not so long ago.

    Optus QFF Rewards

Agree Ben, if would make more sense IMO if Qantas and Telstra teamed up, they both used to sponsor similar sporting events, both Aussie companies etc... Have been holding off switching to Optus for the phones for that reason.

    2013 F1 Thread

Even if Vettel jumps to Ferrari (likely IMO), if Webber had stayed he would still have been playing 2nd fiddle to Kimi R.

Can anyone tell me where this Australian airfield is?

The description (below) on the youtube link actually says Canberra Airport. Don't know what MSL means but I'd guess 1888' refers to the old runway length. "The video 'Illushin Using It All' was taken from the control tower at Canberra Airport (in Australia) -- which from memory is 1888 feet...

My thoughts as well, although I have had the odd "free delivery" for Woolies online every now and then lately. Nought regarding points of fuel though other than the 17 cpl in the paper last week.

Best place to buy a DSLR

Good on you for making the jump, I did it years ago and haven't been disappointed. What has been said re grey importers ring true for warranties, as well as asia not being the bargain it once was for things like cameras. I ended up buying mine from Ted's but only because they matched a few...

Food on Jetstar International? Worth it or not? Is water available or only sold?

Flew JQ earlier in the year Y to BKK then J coming back with the Good Lady. We purchased the package which gives you the QFF points, selected seating baggage etc, and food (in Y). Whist I found the J food and service really good, the food was disappointing to say the least in Y, she struggled to...

Is there a doctor on the plane?

It is a sad state of affairs certainly, and while I'm fairly certain in Australia one cannot be sued for rendering assistance, unfortunately in other countries (U$A most famously) - a medical student/paramedic etc could be sued, possibly charged even if patient was 100% "fixed". If the person...

TG v Thai Smile v Bangkok Airways

Never flown Thai Smile, but have been flying TG and BKK Airways on and off for years, and you won't go wrong with either. IMO for domestic BKK Air beat TG, but not by a great deal.
