Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

These are the common booking codes used for economy (Y) and business class (J) for fares. At the bottom of every AFF forum page there is a link to Forum Help. In that link there is another link to Abbreviations & Explanations where you will find some explanations of some of the jargon we use...

    Qantas Wine latest offering

You can add to your cart and try to apply the vouchers and see how the system reacts. You are not committed to purchase until you provide credit card details. In my experience, the mixed dozen packs in this price range are generally quite reasonable quality and most of my friends would be very...

    Qantas Wine latest offering

Not sure you can stack the 5,000 point for first purchase with a $50 voucher, but great value if you can!! I pure terms of point/$, this is a pretty good deal. There are similar offers that come around every few months, but not much better in terms of points/$. Now, the points/$ value may not...

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

Good work! Poor planning. I assume a temporary problem.

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

North of Brisbane, we had a little rain overnight and today is overcast with moderate breeze, but steadily increasing wind strength since yesterday.

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

Very unlikely that any power outages will be fairly localised and restored quickly after the wind dies down. Unlikley to have much impact in terms of long power outage at the airport. The biggest concerns for power disruptions are on the Moreton Bay islands, and Energex is pre-positioned...

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

The 7am tracking map is now showing a little further south, so Logan now looks like it is in firing line. Then bouncing a little north after crossing.

48 Min transfer window at LAX

No additional security screening, just a 5-10 min brisk walk if you follow the signs correctly. Of course that does not help if the inbound arrives late. Is it all one booking/ticket? or a separate ticket?

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

Indeed the predicted track line has been steadily moving south. Very happy to watch it pass to our south from a northern vantage point. But the further south is tracks, the closer it aligns to my elderly mother's home and the surrounding trees. Cyclones making land-fall is never a good...

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

Keeping an "eye" on it, so to speak. Most of the bad weather normally splits around Redcliffe as it approaches - but that is normally from the opposite direction with Deception Bay and Bramble Bay sucking the weather towards the water masses.

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

My house is DIRECTLY in the predicted tracking path. One could not draw that tracking line any closer to my place except perhaps if using a thinner line. Hatches battened down ...

    Pickpocketed in Bangkok: by Qantas

It might seem logical to the Qantas staff trying to deal with your situation and not able to modify the original ticket due to restrictions with who is able to modify a ticket issued by a TA. Perhaps the airport staff were not even able to cancel the ticket and expected that you would contact...

    Pickpocketed in Bangkok: by Qantas

Not at all. The normal way to deal with the date change is for the agency that issued the ticket to make the change. The Qantas agents at the airport would have limited ability to modify the booking that was made by an agent. That is likely part of the communication failure and not requesting...

    Pickpocketed in Bangkok: by Qantas

Is it possible that Qantas cancelled and refunded the return portion of the original ticket (it was a flexible fare), with the refund going back to the TA who made the original booking, and then created a new booking for the return flight, charged to the traveller's credit card? If that is the...

Qantas Status Credits in Europe/Middle East

while starting at EDI may reduce the APD payable, BA often has cheaper fares commencing from UE countries other than the UK, especially where there is competition from another carrier with non-stop service from their home port. So its worth looking at several options such as CDG, AMS, FRA, ZRH etc.

Qantas Status Credits in Europe/Middle East

and by not starting the UK, might actually be cheaper option too, possibly also funding getting to Paris or similar Eu starting point.
