I wonder how often though for someone arriving at SYD (from overseas at least)......the bus to Canberra would actually get them home equally quickly? I usually fly to/from the US with NZ... so on arrival at SYD I jump on the next Murrays bus to Canberra (flexible ticket so whichever bus I CAN...

I think they meant for the two legs outbound...for both of them.

I suspect there would have to be a SEAT purchased to be able to add baggage (I doubt a lap infant booking would enable it - but I'd call on that!)

OR.. to be able to hold a fare for 24 hours. It is the airlines choice WHICH of those to offer. I couldn't name an airline off the top of my head offering the hold rather than the 24 hr cancel...but it is unwise to assume all airlines "have" to offer the 24 hr cancel.

That will depend on the specific fare conditions of your ticket...

And to complete the circle. The check in and flight experience at BOTH ends was very good. We were travelling to the "2019 Australasian IPSC Match" ( a very large pistol shooting comp - over 900 competitors from around the world) . Staff at Sydney were friendly, helpful..AND (shock!) KNEW...

The baggage storage at SYD (international) is very conveniently located.... another option?

That seems relatively easy to explain..... non stop flights nearly always command a premium...(How much to fly one way AKL-LAX on the same day?) ….add in the fact its a one way AND the necessity to depart from a different COUNTRY to get the better pricing and Im sure other factors come into play...

It is not requested..it is required....as already mentioned there is no (or very little) actual "Transit" possible through the US (I believe several airports have sterile transit procedures for some I-I transits but it is certainly not widespread)...it is due to the way most US airports are...

Especially for purely recreational aircraft....

Who suggested that? Like many (most?) my understanding is that IDL's are only required when the license uses a different alphabet (or syllabary) from the country being visited.

Far simpler to establish a relationship with a TA who is prepared to book from ITAmatrix itineraries... Be warned though...not everything you find on ITA is actually able to be booked....

And Ho Chi Minh city is still SGN and Beijing is still PEK..... and people still ask for Fax numbers.....
