I also called Diners Club last week to check on the annual fee. Basically the offer was for one year free however it is only 10 months old and they still applied the annual fee to my account. Diners said they collect the fee in advance. Diners reduced the fee down to $24- for all ANZ...

A few months back Energy Aust had an offer with AMEX with a special points offer. I calculated the discounted offer over the AMEX points offer and the discount option was much superior. Look at the full picture before signing up and be wary of their marketing tricks.

I would look very carefully at the way they asked for payment especially it's a new ebay user. Who would be daring enough to send $$$ to an account and have no recourse? Well definitely not me. If you had the option to pay by credit card, that would be a safer bet, at least you have recourse...

I did this a few years ago, even though ANZ charged me a new annual fee, I still managed to close off the card and get a full refund. It's best to do this the month they charge your account. Also, there's a chance the Bank might stuff up and forget to put the charge through. This happened...

Here's another idea for you. Sign up to Qantas Club and ask for a refund in 14 days. Let's see what they do with the QFF membership? Will they cancel this as well? Separately, no points are earned on award flights. Good Luck!
