According to Qantas Hotels the cost is $1470 and the accommodation's own website is $1400. It's in Broome.

    Booking Hotels with QFF points

I'm not sure about the Qantas Holidays being better value than booking a hotel and flights separately. I've looked at both and used the same hotel and the same flights on the same dates. On Qantas Holidays for 2 people for 5 days the points needed is 324,620. Booking just the hotel is 167,457...

Credit Card Offers Qantas Premier Platinum Offers & Discussion

I certainly did. I was honest and was slightly under with their annual income minimum but thought I would submit it anyway expecting a refusal. This wasn't the first time I didn't quite make the income minimum and got approved. I thought being retired would go against me but it wasn't.

Credit Card Offers Qantas Premier Platinum Offers & Discussion

I'm retired 9 years and on a fixed income. I was surprised recently when I was approved for the Virgin Money card with 80,000 bonus points and 1:1 earning rate. They even gave me a $24000 credit limit (I've since reduced it) compared to my (about to be cancelled) St George card which only...

Using KrisFlyer miles on Virgin Australia

I booked a VA flight last week by calling the SQ call centre in Sydney. It wasn't showing up on SQ. I got a very helpful and knowledgeable person which isn't always the case. I suggest you try again, might be lucky.

No Virgin Redemptions Using Krisflyer Miles

I checked a few different options. Looks like there are award seats on Virgin only on about 1 or 2 days a week for the 3 options I looked at.

Travelling experiences with armed soldiers and guards

We stayed near the Champs-Elysees in Paris a couple of doors from the Israeli Embassy where soldiers were patrolling with machine guns. A bit disconcerting walking past but our wives seemed to enjoy looking at the soldiers from our 2nd floor window!

No Virgin Redemptions Using Krisflyer Miles

I first wrote to SQ asking why bookings could not be made on their web site using KF miles for Virgin domestic flights. I mentioned I had done this earlier this year for a flight HBA - CNS. They thought I was trying to make that booking. SQ: We acknowledge your concern about the redemption...

No Virgin Redemptions Using Krisflyer Miles

Thats useful information. I don't actually want to make a booking at this time, just be prepared for when I do. "Award redemptions for partner airlines can be done via KrisFlyer Membership Services and will be available for redemption on singaporeair.com progressively." I may well have...

No Virgin Redemptions Using Krisflyer Miles

Last night I noticed on the Singapore Airlines app that when trying to book a domestic flight in Australia that it won't allow you to even put the destination city in. Unlike the web site where both departure and destinations can be entered and then get no results. No reply from my e-mail to...

No Virgin Redemptions Using Krisflyer Miles

I've contacted SQ using a form on their web site. I'll share here when I get a reply.

No Virgin Redemptions Using Krisflyer Miles

Really poor service is an understatement. I rang SQ call centre yesterday to ask why Virgin redemptions were not showing for Krisflyer domestic bookings. Was transferred to someone who allegedly was an expert. I was asked which routing I was looking at. I had randomly looked at SYD - MEL in...

Yes, I booked earlier this year.

No Virgin Redemptions Using Krisflyer Miles

There don't appear to be any Virgin domestic award bookings using Krisflyer miles at the moment. Looking at different routes and dates brings up blanks. I have checked using Velocity points and award seats are available on the same routes and dates I am looking at in Krisflyer. I am using the...

Whats the most amount of flights you took to reach your destination

5 years ago I planned to go to the US for a golf tournement at the end of a holiday in Europe. I had a J ticket booked. I changed my mind and decided to head home instead and being the stubborn so and so that I am I was determined to come home in J and flew ATH - AMM- DXB - AKL- MEL - HBA.

Do you get tempted to indulge in the lounge, just because it's "free"?

I usually enjoy a few beers in whatever lounge I'm in. I don't overindulge and have about 3 at most. A few years ago, we flew from Townsville to Sydney and due to a storm at Sydney airport with lightning we were stuck on the plane for 3 hours. Being very claustrophobic I was very relieved...

    What was your first flight?

My first flight was in 1952 when I was 3 months old from Hobart to Sydney. My mother was from Sydney and moved down to Hobart with her parents after the war. Her parents moved back to Sydney and Mum stayed and married Dad. As I got older, we would semi regularly fly back and forward between...

Off to Europe in J. A380-800 vs 777-300ER vs A350-900

Makes sense. Living in Hobart we have always departed o'seas from MEL or SYD.

Off to Europe in J. A380-800 vs 777-300ER vs A350-900

I'm also looking at September 2023 to ZRH or AMS. How can you tell which is the short haul A350 and which is the long haul?

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

I'm retired and check mine on-line nearly every day! Not good last few days with the US markets in free fall.
