Further Security Measures for Flights to USA

(My Bolding) In my view, there are many, many reasons not to visit the US, rather than just relying on someone removing your blanket an hour before arrival to put me off. OK, so I'd like to visit Alaska, and Hawaii at a push, but have no desire to visit the rest. I went as far as damaging...

Further Security Measures for Flights to USA

I've never been to the US, and now have less enthusiasm about going than previously. I'd much rather travel around some backstreet slum dive in SEAsia than voluntarily subject myself to the rigours of travel to the LOTFAP. Not allowed to get up and use the bathroom for the last hour when I've...

    Jetstar Boxing Day Sale

If they offer somewhere I want to go, very cheaply, then I say stuff the SCs. If NZ is on the list at a good price (Again!) then I'll be pulling out the CC.

Kitchen fault forces A380 superjumbo to turn back [SQ]

I made the presumption that because it was an SQ plane, that it was heading CDG-SIN. So it was 2 hours into a 12 hour flight. Not exactly "mid" flight!

Kitchen fault forces A380 superjumbo to turn back [SQ]

I'm sure that if they put it to the vote on the flight that would have been the majority verdict too! I'm guessing that there is more to the fault than NoNews have the ability to report. For SQ to waste 6 hours like that, I'm sure it would have been a rock solid reason, rather than just...

O/T Anyone ever had a Lounge to themselves?

I had the Virgin Clubhouse in HKG to myself after connecting from PVG back in Jan this year. I was the only one there for about 30 minutes until people started arriving from the inbound VS flight from LHR conencting to SYD.

Study reveals storm cloud radiation fear

I did read your post medhead and even understood (I think): Because of the coughulative, long term effect of radiation exposure it would be impossible to distinguish, statisically speaking, the incidence of cancers in aircrew that are related directly to this type of exposure in the study because...

    Qantas International Fare Increase

In a post I made last week here I was talking of the same thing. A return on TG in D Class PVG-BKK-BNE came out at AU$3125. Same dates on QF PVG-SYD-BNE also in D class priced up at AU$6205. It can't be argued that it's a shorter flight - PVG-BKK-BNE is 1000 miles longer. So I'm getting the...

Hoon drivers: is seizing vehicles enough?

With you all the way on this one. If "every k over is a killer" then why aren't more people dying? Having driven on German autobahns (and even French and UK motorways) at speeds we can only dream of in Australia, surely I should be dead too?? And speed does not kill - it's normally...

Study reveals storm cloud radiation fear

Medhead, the main reasons I marked it as a beat up are: NoNews have reported it if it were such a major issue, then logic says that there should be a higher incidence of cancers in aircrew than those unexposed in the same way The report is suitably vague stating "What we don't know is how often...

Study reveals storm cloud radiation fear

I imagine the first thing that would go through your mind is "What's that terrible smell?", followed closely by "I hope I have some clean clothes in my carry on".

Study reveals storm cloud radiation fear

It's another of those beat ups. Having a CT scan is the equivalent of 290-400 chest xrays, and people don't tend to keel over and die after that. If you get hit by storm clouds 20 times in 1 flight, then I would imagine you'd need to worry!

Hoon drivers: is seizing vehicles enough?

There was a similar kind of call back in the UK, when the police were given powers to seize and crush offender's vehicles for a given range of driving offences. At the time people were requesting those of little brain who were caught a second time (you'd have to be very hard of thinking...

Accor A|Club - a special kind of useless!

Maybe they have turned the corner then, and are going to the a|club into a slick, customer focussed program from the chaos that it is now. And perhaps I may win the Lotto on saturday. :D

    The totally off-topic thread

Worst I've had was at the Sofitel Hyland in Shanghai. Paid (ahem, company paid) 115RMB (AU$18) for a single beer! Thankfully the boss didn't bat an eyelid. Definitely no pokie machines there either ;)

Worked like a charm - $100 worth of iTunes for $50! Thanks for the heads up markis10. No advertising in Big W, but scanned with the right price. (Shows the wonder of the internet. Sat here reading this in China, gave SWMBO the instructions, who toddles off to the shops this morning. Cheap...
