    China visa - price hike!

Just my luck. I'm flying out of PVG on 28/5 on Thai at 1725 - so we'll cross somewhere just off the Chinese coast :(

Qantas American Express Ultimate Card - now 50,000 bonus points

I'm thinking along the same lines - if me and SWMBO both have a go, then we've got all but 14k points needed (each) to get to the UK, for $450. PLUS a free BNE-SYD/MEL return too! I'm thinking that's not a terrible deal!

    Hertz Qantas CDP Pricing Expensive

Not noticed a specific change recently, but I compare it frequently with my employer's CDP and it is sometimes double the cost. For example, a 2 day hire next week from SYD, with my employer's CDP it's $116.60 for a group C and with the Qantas one it's $208!

    IHG Hotels that recognise status

Crowne Plaza Parramatta Booked King standard (corporate rate). A week out from stay was showing as upgraded to Deluxe room, and was showing right up to the night before. On check in - gutted to find I got what I'd booked  Handed a welcome note and invitation to Wednesday night drinks...

Domestic seat selection now up and running

Well this little WP managed to select from what seems to be an empty 738 (not a single seat allocated!) for a BNE-SYD and back next week. All available except rows 4 & 5 in Y on a (not so) cheap O fare. So 6C it is until T-24 when I'll try and jump into 4C/D again.

    Dragonair First Class Routes

I've been on KA 10 times now between HKG and PVG, 8 times in J and twice in F (one of which was an op-up). Personally I have a soft spot for them, no problems, very good service, food much better than QF Domestic J.

The 7 wonders of the world...

My list, also in no particular order: The Maldives GBR Mont St. Michel Great Wall of China Hong Kong harbour Snowdonia The road out of Surfers Paradise I'm with you all the way 11sjw, on the road out of Sydney. I think of Sydney as being like my mother-in-law's house - it's nice to visit, but I...

    Have you flown Jetstar?

I was half expecting to have my first negative experience with JQ last week. We (the 2MP clan) had a BNE-NTL-BNE booking made in the middle of last year in JQ's 5th birthday sale, and spent the princely sum of 40c (5c each, each way ). So it seemed a shame not to use it for a cheap...

Could Velocity Rewards' Customer Service be Any Worse???

Hmmm, a 5 post wonder is unusual!

    You’ve been hand picked...

Yep, I got one too! Quite handy as I have a BNE-SYD coming up next week....:D

    Extra Aus-China Seats

Don't forget that it is Expo 2010 in Shanghai. This will lead to a fair chunk of extra demand.

    Extra Aus-China Seats

BNE-PVG on any (almost) airline would be good - it would save me a whole chunk of time getting to my usual stamping grounds....

    Cheap netbook camera quality

I got my son one for Christmas. It's a little Dell Inspiron 910, and it does him fine for talking to his mates over IM, or watching stuff on Youtube. Only cost me $120 as a "shop soiled" purchase. I got my daughter a Dell 1010, which seems a little slower by comparison.

    The totally off-topic thread

I've heard that the Perth trains are pulled by faster horses than the Melbourne ones. Though to be fair, I've heard that Melbourne trains have started experimenting with them newfangled steam driven engines! Fancy that! A horseless carriage in Melbourne! They'll be talking about having that...

Let's face it, Perth is six months from the rest of civilisation!

    Jetstar customer guarantee

But this point totally contradicts, in my opinion, their terms of carriage, which state that the flight time does not form part of your contract with them, or something along those lines. If I have paid to be on the 1925 OOL-SYD and it leaves at 1945, have I really got what I paid for?:mrgreen...

    Company travel expense reporting

Absolutely. Been in that situation several times, have been away and the Amex bill fell due. In this instance my company wears the late payment charge.

    Company travel expense reporting

I half agree with Dave Noble, our system is an intranet based system where receipts have to be scanned against each expense line item and it takes twice as long as the old spreadsheet based form to complete. Completing my expenses, which is a task that is a direct result of my travelling, which...
