    A bit of humour

I thought we'd said tartare to this kind of humour?

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Velocity points are still well worth collecting IMO for SQ/QR and domestic awards. Having status doesn't really affect redemptions like it does over at QF so I won't be throwing the baby out with the bath water.

    Apple Airtags

I wouldn't say totally useless. You can get an airtag to play a sound in a few minutes but if it's adequately hidden it won't be easy to find or remove. Or the time it takes to do so may well be enough of a deterrent. And if there's several airtags at the address, it'll take a process of...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Touche. I'd have to give my work the Flexi ticket that arrives first such is the drama associated with claiming a business class ticket.

Would you fly at a less convenient time to get a nicer plane?

Some WP/OWE fly across the country for some salt and pepper squid in a FLounge, so any sacrifice for a nicer plane is going to be a resounding yes.

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

I probably would have just booked the J award, unless there was a burning desire to give VA revenue or get a few SCs.

    What's your golden travel rule?

Must be a reference to QFF. Lamentably, SCs and extra SCs don't have a lot of value in Velocity now so not much incentive to spend more to connect.

    Apple Airtags

I bought this from there for $139 (less $10 discount for first time customer) in Nov 2024 so there's been a decent price rise. Beware if you buy via cashback sites it won't pay if you use any kind of promo even if it's on the Everyday Market site.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

so you got 41 SCs when you would have got 135 in the past!!? Ouch. Probably the best example of the deval yet. Although, according to some, you're just not using the program properly.

Virgin Australia - Promo Codes (ongoing)

It's 0.5% and 1.5% on long and short haul INT on Cashrewards. Still meagre, but the bigger shame is VA's long and short haul options.

Virgin Australia - Promo Codes (ongoing)

There's often cashbacks on offer from the various sites, up to 10% recently. I've never had any issues with the cashback until this 10% offer which tracked but was rejected presumably by Virgin for some reason. They're "looking into it".

What's the app say re her status now?

    Scams like these

@FlyingFiona can you set your credit report to send a notification when it takes a hit/enquiry and/or when your info is used on the dark web? My company was hacked and we all got Equifax accounts for two years which provided these notifications. I still occasionally get the dark web...

Preferred seating charge for second passenger on same ticket?

This begs the question of what would happen if Mrs @Stevo.1702 had no status and/or Mr John Nostatus was NB? 🤔 It is confusing that "preferred seating" is called "standard seating" for those with some status.

    Inflight theft

If my general appearance hasn't given the impression, pocketing anything that isn't nailed down works for me. But taking a photo of your champagne next to your passport/boarding pass is probably the best way to do it.

The American Express Velocity Platinum Card Insurance does not have a benefit for Loss Damage Waiver Cover.

You could also look at other credit cards that include it? OTTOMH I think the ANZ Traveller Cards might have it, amongst others.

The American Express Velocity Platinum Card Insurance does not have a benefit for Loss Damage Waiver Cover.

Mrs Happy Dude has this card and we're aware it doesn't have rental car excess cover. I keep the Explorer card pretty much exclusively for that purpose/benefit, however there are a few noteworthy limitations including 30 day hire max, campers excluded, and a $100k car value. Need to be...

    Scams like these

No problems  I'm sure it would have been sent to more than just "a bunch" of random numbers. The fact that it didn't bounce back and show as undelivered would have confirmed my number is real. They wouldn't have done anything if it did bounce back though. I won't actually get a response...

    Scams like these

I got one of those "Aus Post we can't deliver your package because the post code is incorrect" texts the other day. I responded with "Well you're the Post Office and you invented the post codes so you look up the correct one". Still waiting for a response.
