All AU Diners Club personal cards will be cancelled in January 2024

Makes sense - still shame we weren't offered a pathway to a NAB product even if it was a VISA. They already had a Shadow limit exposure to us on the Diners. Unless of course, the overlap with Citi and NAB was so big they decided not to do that and to trim their credit exposure. For instance, I...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks very much for the guidance and the link - I really appreciate it. I’ll check out the link & try to HUCA. I didn’t try it as they sounded very emphatic guess it’s not always about taking ‘no’.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I reckon we can but they still will likely ask for the ID. This is my second application with C1. The last time, I didn’t get very far as my address in Florida was flagged as CMRA. Worked fine with Amex though I think that’s as it wasn’t flagged as such previously. There are reports on this...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Sounds like they want you in the office to apply and you must make an appointment. I can’t make appointments that far out in time so will be interesting. Things we do for our hobby.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Apparently to prove residency to C1 before they will issue me with a credit card.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Sounds like I need to get a State of NY issued ID card. I'm going there in January so will need to wait until I get it then and try once again. 3rd time's a charm they say - I hope it rings true. I'm posting this more as information to anyone else that runs up against this. Again, several forum...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've managed to get past this point with C1 as my new address wasn't on their CMRA dtatbase (Sarasota is unfortunately so I've had to move). CX1 sent me an email with the dollowing link on Friday AEST: I heard nothing after uploading my passport as I don't have a US state issued drivers'...

    David Jones: AMEX to Latitude

I'm probably going to regret looking into this card as just reading this thread has set me up to expect poor service - though I made it work with Citi so Latitude shouldn't be much harder. Where can we find the list of prospective airlines which are transfer partners? I'm not fan of Velocity...

    New Amex statement credits

I missed that. What specifically did you give feedback on? I think that continual reduction of benefits for cards where they charge a god-awful premium compared to the competition is tough. On the one hand, there’s the economy. On the other, despite the cohort on AFF making noises about the...

    New Amex statement credits

I usually ignore the surveys and requests for feedback but I completed one for my Platinum Reserve card yesterday - although it focused on asking questions about Amex acceptance vs MasterCard. Only have Reserve due to the grandfathered TC. Otherwise have simplified back to just my charge card...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

My DP on Revolut is it works but I got too greedy loading them via ApplePay it suggested I was vaguely slowed down but it hasn’t worked anymore. Just be careful and go slow.

    New Amex statement credits

I think Amex has achieved their objective - to get us using our Amex cards for everything possible so they don’t need to bribe us with $10 credits to do so. They don’t need to do so anymore and whether or not the media says so, we’re in a recession so everyone cuts back. Why should Amex be any...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

It is applying from AU. It's been reasonably simple with Amex that it's easy to get a false sense of security. My Citi card, I got after going to the US, attending a branch and setting up a checking account. I happened to be going to the US. I imagine most people won't be going to such lengths...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks for the heads up. I'll give them my ITIN letter if need be - though that's addressed to my Sarasota address. I hope that's not an issue.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Appears I was a little hasty in my post. Have received an email from C1. They wanted me to upload my US govt issued ID specifically drivers license. I don’t have one of those. Uploaded a copy of my AU passport (even though that was on the list of excluded ID and a covering letter explaining I...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've just moved to my new address and have bitten the bullet and re-applied with C1. I've got the following message: Has anyone else experienced this in applying with C1 and what can I expect next? I haven't received my email yet - hoping it's not a letter by snail mail. All DPs appreciated :)

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I think they look at it in terms of a 24 hour period. IME, that seems to work but then again, it's not always the case, seems a bit random. I tend to use the "24 hour" rule when making these payments - the ATO sure is making this harder in their fight against "fraud" - I'm not sure why you would...

Centurion is personal only in AU there’s no business variant.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

They mailed a letter to me saying just that. I didn’t get it forwarded until it was too late and they’d already cancelled my application. Not sure what trips the potential fraud warning for them but sounds like it’s quite common for us ‘Aliens’.
