    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Just circling back on this. My Chase bonus has been credited. I made a deposit via Revolut tagged "Payroll" which seemed to work. I'm keen to try out Wise. They appear to have blocked me as I can't set up an account and support hasn't been much help. Any experiences on this forum with Wise and...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've had the US HSBC account for ages. I'm Premier in AU so I could open that one up (and I did it before HSBC jettisoned their US operation) and they haven't charged me that I've noticed. I think for as long as HSBC AU is a "thing", I'd just keep using the $A9K/month workaround. I think over...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've just received my physical CSP. I'm going to try to use it for some retail purchases tomorrow before making a larger purchase. I've also received 2 letters which appeared to have been generated during the application vetting process asking for various things including proof of address (they...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

re the bonus for Checking account, I got mine from Citi and I paid into that account from Revolut. Transferring from my Amex US Checking account didn't qualify for the bonus with Chase, they need it to be an income payment. I've tagged a deposit I've made as "Salary" via revolut. Hopefully that...

    Card Refund Cover

It’s a feature of the Amex platinum card - it has its own T&C as referred to up thread but it’s very useful if the merchant won’t take it back. You still will be out of pocket the excess but it’s much better than the whole item. I hope you bought it on this card. I don’t think another card...

RBA considers banning card payment surcharges in Australia

I’m biased but it’s a cost of doing business just like every other cost. Merchants just get a free kick to add it on. I’m sure there are heaps of advantages over handling cash and banking the proceeds including the security risks. It’s wrong to demonize the cost of this business expense the way...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

sorry to labour the point - so it was to a specific biller on Sniip rather than having blocked Sniip?

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Wow they really only just want us to use them for retail spend. I guess that's how they maximise their merchant fees - the $9 issue fee via OW is not nearly enough. Just getting clear is that ATO via sniip or sniip proper so you couldn't say BPay levies (as DEFT payment was not an option)?

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've just tried to get my "free" credit report from Annual Credit Report.com - Home Page I've been trying to enter my ITIN win the SSN field as I don't have an SSN. It doesn't like the ITIN. What has worked for others or is there another way that has worked to get this report? TIA.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Hasn’t worked previously when I’ve tried. They’ve blocked that merchant. Shame as it would’ve been good & less fiddly $1000 at a time especially it now has no fees for debit cards and they’ve raised the daily payment cap from 5 to 10.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

He didn't say but it sounds like he's put in very high income - apparently $70/$80K per month (not sure which currency that's in though he is wealthier than I am so it may be true but he's texted me so it might not be true) according to his text.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

One more thing, a mate of mine who also has a couple of US cards & has an ITIN. He recently received an email from Amex asking to provide ID and proof of income. What will work for proof of income? For instance, I’ve been quoting the USD equivalent of the income shown on my ATO notice of...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I tried to buy albeit MasterCards from the marketplace and they told me they were points redemption only. Which GCs will they sell you? I’m interested in this route before the currency gets even lower than it is and the multipliers don’t help as much as a result.

HSBC increasing credit card annual fees on 11/3/25

Hi Guys, I'm not a fan of paying high AFs and I know there's a whole thread on the Star Alliance card. I am considering migrating to the Star Alliance card with this current AF increase across all HSBC cards. Is there something I'm missing?

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks for the heads up. Perhaps I need to apply for the Savor card, be a "good" citizen for a while then try to upgrade it to a Venture which is the card I have tried to apply for.

    AMEX rejection

Thought listing minimum incomes was just a way to make some cards more "exclusive" than others such as the Citi Prestige was advertising a minimum income with its $700 AF. Though I imagine there's a reasonable correlation between AF and someone's income to be more likely to pay the AF being...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

That’s what I’m hoping too. I find them a good bank to deal with but for their foibles all financial institutions have them (like puny daily online transfer limits, taking so long to verify family trusts as not criminal enterprises but legitimate structures, etc). It has taken 1.5 weeks to...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

re HSBC AU - while I don't know if it's going to happen, I caught up with a mate of mine who is a private banker with HSBC. He reckons the AU operation isn't going to be sold as HSBC has invested in it for the year ahead. It potentially sounds like a BAU strategy to me but just putting it out...
