star alliance flights Perth to Auckland

You can't redeem Velocity points on Air NZ, other than for (poor value) Points+Pay redemptions on the VA codeshares.

Using Amex points to book GA flights

Yes - I think you just need an account to search for seats (the account doesn't necessarily need to have Avios in it).

Rare NZ J award availability on AKL-PER route

Was surprised to find NZ J availability via Star Alliance partners when searching just now for AKL-PER flights (in this case, with Aegean miles - but you could also book with Aeroplan, etc.). You might even be able to book for 15,000 Virgin Atlantic points, although you'd need to call up to book...

    EK J BKK-DAD for $584 round-trip

This seems like a reasonable-ish price for EK business class. Under $600 round-trip from Bangkok to Da Nang. It's on a Boeing 777. Sadly, doesn't earn QF status credits (unless booked as a QF codeshare).

The T&Cs of the Etihad promo seem very poorly thought through.

Article: What to Expect Flying QF1 from Sydney to London via Singapore

70E has no seat beside it because 70D does not exist. The reason for this is that there is a hatch there which is the emergency exit for the crew rest area which is below the floor. So, there should be a bit more space beside that seat. 71D is popular for the same reason...

    Win 5,000,000 miles!

Now Ethiopian Airlines has launched a strangely similar promo: https://shebamiles.ethiopianairlines.com/special-offers/offer-detail?offer=our-1-million-miles-sweepstakes-is-here!

Load $100 onto a Qantas Pay card and earn 1,000 Qantas points until 5/8/25

I wouldn't necessarily recommend using this as a travel money card, but if you load at least $100 onto a Qantas Pay card (formerly Qantas Travel Money) between 28 May - 5 August 2025, you can get 1,000 points. The $100 can be in AUD or foreign currency. Offer is for new cardholders only...

Hmm, don't think I'll be able to get to Sochi any time soon, so it's a pass from me!

    Asia excluded from Qantas-Emirates partnership?

I assume you can still purchase these in conjunction with a QF flight from Australia? E.g. MEL-SIN on QF connecting to SIN-DXB-ATH on EK?

Qantas reciprocal relationship with KLM/Air France (2020 onwards)

Are you talking about redeeming Flying Blue points on Qantas, or Qantas points on KLM? If the latter, KLM Business rewards book into O class when using Qantas points. I did a KLM reward flight last year and did not earn any QF points or SCs.

Hawaiian Airlines will no longer be an Amex transfer partner

The following notice has been added to the Amex Membership Rewards transfer partners page, beside HawaiianMiles: Get in by 30 June if you want to transfer into HawaiianMiles (you can transfer onwards from Hawaiian to Alaska Airlines at a 1:1 rate ;) )

Qantas A330 vs Malaysia A330 business class.

The Qantas business class seat is slightly more spacious. Both have a similar seat made by the same manufacturer, but Malaysia Airlines squeezes an extra seat into every second row. This means some seats don't have as much storage space etc. Other than that, MH probably has the edge in most areas!
