What I’ve learned over the years (I book hotels as a side hustle) is that a bookable room or suite doesn’t necessarily mean it’s eligible for a complimentary upgrade. Free upgrades often can come from a separate inventory.

Were you expecting to stack the upgrade for being on HERA rate and Accor Platinum? They had provided you an upgrade initially?

How was Sofitel Shanghai North Bund? The hotel is brand new and looking very stylish. I know the location is a little further out. Was the club lounge decent?

You will have to have your passport sighted at some point, check-in, lounge or at the gate prior to boarding. From memory you will be asked to step aside if you present your passport during the boarding queue.

That's a decent outcome. I have been dealing the reservation team at Sofitel New York for the last month or so, they defiantly pick and choose which email they reply. If its too difficult or out of their scope, the emails gets ignored, including outside the reservation team.

Just wanted to add - there were so many people raved about the services at Sofitel Adelaide club lounge on Facebook group. I wonder if there were many club staff left recently? I only noticed an older lady (Emily?) that seems to be more experienced and knows what she's doing.

I was struggling to get it to price for hotels in Paris this week. No matter what combinations of adults and children in 2 rooms, the price are a lot higher than selecting 2 rooms. Second room has a preselect of 1 adult in the room default by the system.

That's a fantastic outcome! Do double check with the hotel by email perhaps a week prior to your arrival to check your Platinum status is recorded on your reservations correctly. Occasionally it's not but most often the system should pick up.

Hua Hin (2-3 hours drive from BKK) has many beautiful quiet resorts. With 10 days, you could split your stays between Hua Hin and Bangkok/Singapore. Auckland also have serval Accor and IHG properties. You could also split your stay between Auckland and another city.
