    Row 1 Qantas F on a380

The real question is, did he bring his own food? :)

Vancouver lounge for Qantas Business Class

Cathay has generally been fine worldwide about accepting OW Elites (unlike say, QR), unless there's a real capacity crunch. So as long as the pax are OWS or OWE (with any airline), when flying FJ code (or any OW code), they should be allowed. But for non-elites flying FJ in business...

Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

Presumably this is to get around Singapore labour laws? Singapore can't stop them from working sectors of a longer overall trip that route through SIN, but if they were just doing SIN-SYD return over and over again, they'd be required to be domiciled in SIN and classified as Singaporean...

    Experiences on Qantas staff travel

I was told the same by a current staff member who's a friend. We got around this by guesting him into the lounge as a non-traveller, which was allowed at the time in domestic (I was WP). He was a little unsure if this was okay, but also had never seen inside any QF lounge so was curious.

Qantas' Impending Change to Tokyo Flight Schedule

Yes, there have been some changes in Japanese monetary policy which allows small inflation (previously they had no inflation at all), and the AUD has fallen against the yen quite a bit recently as well. The combination is going to reduce the rush of Australian tourists most likely. However...

Skytrans to Operate Lord Howe Island Route from March 2026 - Take over from Qantaslink

Oops, I read that as March 2025 and thought it was delayed, sorry folks.

Skytrans to Operate Lord Howe Island Route from March 2026 - Take over from Qantaslink

Qantas still says "operated by Eastern Australian Airlines" for all flights I checked into Nov/Dec this year - when is this transition now expected to take place? Will this result in a change of flight number/reticketing for existing ticketholders?

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

But as noted above, the 787 is a lot smaller than the A350. The 787 wingspan is 60.1m, slightly less than the A330 (60.3m). Since Qantas has A330 gates at domestic terminals those can likely accommodate the 787. And the 787-9's length of 62.8m is similar to the A330-300 at 63.4 (though not...

Qantas' Impending Change to Tokyo Flight Schedule

Within HND/NRT in particular, arriving early enough for the flight requires either an expensive taxi, or arriving the night before and an airport hotel - public transport doesn't start early enough. By that point, you might as well just get on a night flight since you're already planning your...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Wouldn't they just be using the existing slots currently used by PER-LHR and AKL-JFK ? It seems hard to believe those flights will continue once Sunrise gets going... those 787's can be deployed elsewhere.

    United to Fly to Adelaide

Technically, this is still a slight reduction in overall seats from United -they will no longer have an extra seasonal SYD-SFO flight. This summer just gone there was an extra, 4-times weekly SYD-SFO return on a 777-200 (besides the normal daily 777 service), next year this will replaced by...

    United to Fly to Adelaide

AUKUS would definitely be a driver but I think wouldn't be seasonal? A US relative of mine is coming over to ADL for AUKUS related reasons but not in summer when the ADF is on holidays ...

Article: An Overview of Australia’s Independent Regional Airlines

Well, Rex is hoarding SAAB 340's for parts and has reportedly at least a dozen out of service to help keep the others going. This might keep them going for another decade or so. As long as the engines can be rebuilt or replaced, the airframes can probably keep going indefinitely, assuming...

Qantas Neighbour Free seating: Worth paying for?

Some of the bulk head aisle seats are among the worst seats in the plane, with everyone bumping into your legs as they navigate past the bulkhead or nearby toilet, etc. Maybe still worth it for neighbour free, but it's definitely not a seat I would want.

Qantas to start flights from Darwin to Singapore

Yeah if loadings are as low as anticipated, that might be a reason of relevance for this group. Also, will QF sell e.g. SYD-DRW-SIN as a married segment, possibly charging lower fares than DRW-SIN individually? Not sure if they make a habit of this kind of thing but in other markets that's...

Article: An Overview of Australia’s Independent Regional Airlines

No, Brindabella did have a codeshare agreement with QF, but not any ownership interest. They failed in 2013 after a disastrous merger with Aeropelican, taking both airlines down (Aeropelican had been around since 1968.). The current Newcastle-based airline FlyPelican, mentioned in the...

Article: An Overview of Australia’s Independent Regional Airlines

I note that Seair in Queensland is not on this list - are their LYT services from HVB, YRED*, and OOL not considered here for some reason? There is a timetable published by Lade Eliot Island resort, but not on seair's own web site... I guess you could argue these are "scheduled charter?" Since...

Qantas to start flights from Darwin to Singapore

I thought Darwin had a pretty big overseas tourism market attracting many people, why do you need to be wierdos? When I was there last there were plenty of backpackers around for example, and tourists flying in to visit Kakadu, etc. Obviously this is mainly during the dry. I'd think that...

    Qantas' New A321XLR

It's not quite clear from those photos, just to clarify that's 2+2 for the daytime config and 1+1 for overnight, on a single aisle like A321?

Using QF frequent flyer points to purchase American Airlines flights- does it include baggage?

I think there's a typo here - assuming we're talking about AA domestic (not booked as part of an international itinerary), the paid economy seat fare options which include a bag are "Main Plus" (bag+extra legroom seat) or "Main Select" (bag+any seat+fully flexible). The standard AA fare is...
