    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

In 2022, the former Government announced planning for a business case to extend the airport metro to Glenfield, via Leppington (replacing the Sydney Trains heavy rail on the Leppington to Glenfield segment). This would allow much better access to WSI airport from the southwest and south in...

    Qantas LAX First Lounge

He just means Platinum. It's an affectation that the original poster of this thread does in order to attract attention (I guess).

Qantas Says COVID Credits Are Refundable

The Philippines call centre was an existing internal outsourcing centre, used for back office processes, like ticketing. So when they added the ability to take inbound customer calls, you weren't getting greenhorns - many of the agents and supervisors were already working on behalf of Qantas...

Just saw: no more POLi payments for QF

Unfortunately, this kind of thing is still happening. A mortgage broker wanted me to use a tool that would login to my online banking session (through a similar technique) in order to screen-scrape all my transactions. I refused and provided the statements manually; he then ghosted me...

When would inflexible changes make commercial sense?

You can "un-checkin" and then cancel. However, I am curious if OP got their points back or not as I thought normally the cancellation deadline for classic rewards is T-24. For any ticket type, you get at least your taxes back if you cancel after the deadline.

    Booking AirBnB through Qantas website

Interesting, I didn't know this was an option, as Airbnb bookings through Qantas Hotels are not eligible, but it seems there's a way to do it directly? I recently booked a $4k Airbnb (big holiday house for 10 mates) and used the wrong credit card by mistake, non-points-earning, and now to...

Qantas to outsource ground handling across Australia

I think Nikon photographed the situation actually.

Qantas to outsource ground handling across Australia

Because they specifically don't *want* to. They can easily hire a qualified secretary to do it, even one experienced enough to practice very good discretion in terms of what is actually written down, but no minutes at all makes it easier to practice selective memory in court, no?

Qantas to outsource ground handling across Australia

Not necessarily, if they deem it to be non-material, i.e. not a big enough impact on the bottom line to be of concern. They may have assessed that they can get away with paying very little compensation, even though they have lost. They will do doubt continue to fight hard to reduce the...

    Welcome Notes

This is a post-9/11 security measure and is commonly done by US airlines. Also, it's common for a cabin crew member while enter the flight deck to monitor the remaining pilot (as a result of the Germanwings crash where one pilot was left alone and committed suicide-by-airliner with 143...

Article: Qantas’ Mysterious Downgrade Compensation Policy

Good luck actually getting a copy of this... no one at customer care or the call centre will have the foggiest on how what to do if you requested it.

CEO retiring, what changes at Qantas would you like to see

A flag carrier just refers to an international carrier domiciled in that country. Virgin Australia is also a flag carrier of Australia, as is Jetstar and even AirNorth. From wikipedia: A flag carrier is a transport company, such as an airline or shipping company, that, being locally...

CEO retiring, what changes at Qantas would you like to see

That's true in general, however reading between the lines in the annual reports, you can see that the Qantas Board has a fairly hands-on role when it comes to fleet planning in particular. Also, regarding the pilot's lockout in 2011, the Board has specifically approved the idea two weeks...

Downgraded from Business Class on Qantas due to "tech crew" [pilot] Travel Requirements

This is why I'm wondering what the EBA actually says if duty travel pilots must be assigned economy, even though they're entitled to business class normally. Usually, the lawyers have thought about it and there will already be some kind of remedy - as I mentioned above, maybe they will be paid...

Downgraded from Business Class on Qantas due to "tech crew" [pilot] Travel Requirements

You're missing the point. No one is saying Qantas should violate the EBA*. But the situation simply shouldn't exist in the first place. People in this thread are sugggesting: * Qantas should operate in a manner such that this is an extremely rare situation; i.e. having enough standby pilots...
