UBank and HSBC also have debit cards with no ATM or exchange fees. Definitely a good idea to have at least one Visa and one Mastercard.

How are you planning to travel within Japan? Have you through about Japan Rail Pass? I purchased it when I went to Japan and it was great for public transport and travelling between cities.

Just came back from a trip to South America. LATAM flights were hard to find but they had incredibly low taxes and fees. Would be a shame if QANTAS couldn't work out an agreement with them once they leave Oneworld.
