Gordon, you read it right. As previously discussed above, the AMEX Plat Credit Card gives you an auto flight (incl. SYD-PER) included in the $395 price tag. The AMEX QF Ultimate Credit Card, makes you buy a flight first before giving you a freebie and then you are limited to the domestic legs...

Looking at the cards and my personal situtation: AMEX Rewards Maximiser gives greater value at $144 per year for 1.5 points per $1 spend against the AMEX Premium card at $195 per year and only 1.25 points per $1 spend. 2 free QP passes is nice - but really does not add much value to the card...

I use it as an alternate to the AMEX now. Am up for renewal in March and will request the card fee be wavied or i take my business down the road to Woolies.

These "hassle free" trips are very much a first-class experience from the feedback I've heard from family friends. Seems as though you are greated by personal guides and drivers who do everything to ensure you do nothing.

Re: What would you consider good "value" for your Welcome to AFF Dave. There are more flyers that travel alot more frequently than I do, so they might be better to answer your question. But, for a domestic flight between eastern cities I always pay the fare and never use my points...
