Free 14th “free stuff” – x2 QF Lounge Passes

Thanks for the offer Matt! Putting my hand up for 1 pass. As a NB, it sure would make the annual Christmas travel that little bit more enjoyable!

Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

Don't forget the garden salad! Perfect to feed to the rabbits at home.

Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

All that faux wood. Seems to me the engineers had a cheeky rummage through the Emirates parts bin ;) Looks great! Looking forward to flying on it in the future.

Delta buys 20% of LATAM, which will exit oneworld

Well that is a complete shock! As others say, this creates a massive, gaping hole in the OW network. As others have said, it makes sense that whether codesharing continues with QF (or even if a future JV happens) I guess depends on what Delta wants. All remains to be seen. Edit: on...

Airlines eye new slots at Haneda (Tokyo)

Interesting, and very unexpected to see VA apply for a slot too, presumably opening the door to some sort of tieup with NH. https://www.executivetraveller.com/virgin-australia-wants-to-fly-to-tokyo-haneda If QF were only assigned the one slot, do they keep MEL-NRT and go 2x daily on SYD-HND?

    Project Sunrise: A350 or 777X?

Not the original poster, but readers may find Perth Airport's submission to the Productivity Commission interesting as it goes into the disagreement between QF and PER. https://www.pc.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0010/241030/subdr173-airports.pdf Page one, bottom paragraph says that there is...

Qantas orders six more 787s, plans to retire all 747s by 2020

Nice to hear that the queen might have a little bit longer in her yet.

    What's your company travel policy?

Far more people in this thread than I was expecting with Y only international travel policies, and far fewer with J allowed to/from Perth than I was expecting. I'm a newcomer to the whole work travel thing. Were policies always like this, or was there a time where policies allowing J were more...

    What's your company travel policy?

Dom: BFOD +/- 2hrs in Y Intl: Y up to 10 hours, Y+ anything longer. Hotels: any hotel within a certain price band. Rigorously enforced by SAP Concur.

    Ausbt rebranded to executive traveler

I've always questioned how they only really review 5 star hotels and business class flights. Granted that may be where the clicks are, but not all of us road warriors are blessed with corporate travel policies that generous, or sufficient seniority. Travel policies only allowing travel in Y (Y+...

    Project Sunrise: A350 or 777X?

I can barely drive for 3 hours without feeling tired, even with all the cruise controls and lane assists that my car has. I couldn't imagine how the poor pilots would go!

BITRE June 2019 domestic aviation statistics: weak demand

The airlines chasing yields in place of raw pax numbers at the moment is exactly what I've been hearing too. Interested to see how VA and QF's earnings go.

QANTAS to introduce A321P2F (Freighter) to fleet after massive AU Post deal

Did AJ just make an order for kangaroo-tailed aircraft? Granted it's for cargo, but still... Baby steps! :p

Tech issues - seats no longer blocked for gold/platinum?

That explains how I snagged all of 8ABC as a NB for my trip last weekend.

    Ask The Pilot

One thing I've always wondered- are QF's A330 pilots dedicated to either international or domestic ops, or could they be assigned a roster with 4-sector domestic triangle days mixed in with trips to Asia?

Qantas FF announcement 20 June - "biggest overhaul" in program history

Almost as 'revolutionary' as AJ's new premium economy seats

Qantas FF announcement 20 June - "biggest overhaul" in program history

If you're the sort of flyer who would gun for LTP, it seems you would be better off shifting to BAEC once you hit LTG with QF. Saves putting all of your lifetime status eggs into one basket too.

Qantas FF announcement 20 June - "biggest overhaul" in program history

No changes to LTG or LTS. LTP exactly as our insiders said. Some sort of 'status' based on annual points earn (probably a couple of lounge passes and 50sc is my bet). Keep the cash-printing machine fed

Qantas FF announcement 20 June - "biggest overhaul" in program history

Revenue based model is my guess too. It's clearly the direction that FF schemes are going.
