Qantas slashing jobs and possibly selling FF program?

Re: Qantas to cut 1,000 Jobs. More analysis: Qantas saga to get more bloody and brutal Or in other words, Virgin is outwitting, outplaying, and possibly will outlast QANTAS, by playing them in the capacity war. You've got to admire John Borghetti - he knows how to play QANTAS at their game...

Double SCs on eligible Domestic Flights and Double Qantas Points with Qantas Cash

These offers are about QANTAS filling the capacity that they've dumped on the market during the quiet business periods of Dec/Jan - that's why you're seeing these deals. They're using the lure of status to keep the cash flow going.

Qantas slashing jobs and possibly selling FF program?

Re: Qantas - back to basics There seem to be a lot of questions in this thread (like "how can this be happening when QANTAS was on track to profitability?", etc.) The answer is related to Virgin and other competitors have been increasing capacity dramatically which is putting pressure on...

$0 Annual Fee for Life on Citi Platinum/Signature CC Complimentary Insurance

For those that are getting the 80% of credit limit as a cheque, are you planning to use the card for purchases as well? One of the risks is that if you have that balance, and you use the card for purchases, the amounts that you pay off will be paying off the balance of what they sent you as the...

Double SCs on eligible Domestic Flights and Double Qantas Points with Qantas Cash

Anyone flying SYD-TSV on 29th or 30th December? I'm going up on the 29th and back on the 30th.

$0 Annual Fee for Life on Citi Platinum/Signature CC Complimentary Insurance

Unfortunately it seems that they're giving me the runaround for the new Signature card, despite the fact I want to transfer from the Platinum Card, maintain my current limit, and I have a long history of running lots of expenses through the card paying it off every month for about 5 years. This...

Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

re: Has anyone had success with the call-up method for "Marginal" xASA's? Well under 10 minutes for a SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD flight by an agent that said "I've booked three of these already today!" It was remarkably easy, really. I read out the flight numbers where I knew there was U class...

Moving to AAdvantage after QF LTG?

I have only ever gotten one op up, so I'm sure I'm not going to miss that. Others may have a different experience. Although, are other non QFF OWEs placed behind QFF's own frequent flyer customers when it comes to upgrades? I'm going to remain QFF Gold, but does the new AA EXP stand for...

Double SCs on eligible Domestic Flights and Double Qantas Points with Qantas Cash

I didn't get to do my usual DONE5 this year so I'm a touch short of SCs. No worries now that the double SC deal is on - an extra 400 SCs for a day of flying puts me comfortably just over the 1200 SCs, so I'll remain WP for the next DONE5 in May 2014 - this couldn't have worked out more perfectly!

Thanks - I've added this to the summary.

Double SCs on eligible Domestic Flights and Double Qantas Points with Qantas Cash

My understanding is that it's two separate offers: Double Status Credits on all Eligible Domestic Flights, and Double Points on QANTAS Cash purchases. It's not double points on flights, and you don't have to use QANTAS Cash to get Double SCs. And yes, ASAs qualify.

Moving to AAdvantage after QF LTG?

So looking at this, assuming I'm QF LTG, and can easily make AA EXP (which I can), the pros and cons: PROS: 8 AA SWUs (great for heading to Europe if you're willing to fly QF in Y to LA or similar - would use often) Unlimited Domestic Upgrades in the USA (subject to availability, of course -...

Moving to AAdvantage after QF LTG?

Moving to AAdvantage after QF LTG?

That depends, amaroo - are you likely to be able to hit the same status in AAdvantage? I admit that I have a little quirk in how I fly - I would be able to achieve EXP on segments (not usually miles or points, as many of the QF fares have poor mileage credit. AA EXP seems harder than QF WP, as...

Moving to AAdvantage after QF LTG?

As I'd be OWE through AA, rather than through QF, I'd still have access to the OW First Lounges when travelling on OW-marketed flights. However, I note that I would lose access to the DOM J Lounges and the QF F lounges when travelling on JQ itineraries, including if I got a cheap JQ SYD-AKL...

The other thing I hope is that this might prompt QF to start considering LTP.

Moving to AAdvantage after QF LTG?

As I'm nearing QFF LTG (about two years away), and there still being no possibility of LTP with QF, I'm thinking that there's really no point with going beyond that. If they had the Lifetime OWE program, I would stay with accumulating with QF, but since they don't, I'm giving serious thought to...

    Quality of experience on RJ

My experiences with RJ on a series of flights (MAD-AMM, BCN-AMM, CDG-AMM, DME-AMM) in J on DONEx trips have been great. The hard product is good, seats are comfortable (although not lie flat for these legs), inflight entertainment is pleasant. For me the big plus was the food - they bring a...

    BA now offering lifetime Gold

Interestingly BA are offering Lifetime Gold Guest List (their Double Gold level) for only 100,000 Tier Points, 3 times the Lifetime Gold level: https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/information/lifetime-ggl?source=MoreInfo That's one hell of a qualification requirement - that's 20 years of CCR...
