Qantas to introduce hot meals and hot snacks on most domestic flights, extends tea and coffee service

Title should be "reintroduce", not pretending it's a brand new thing that's never been done before! Still better than anything in Europe. Fly BA from London to Athens, 4 hour flight, all you'll get is a cup of water and a tiny packet of pretzels.

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

Are the crew for the Paris & Rome flights based in Australia or the UK/Europe? I recall the Perth-London & Singapore-London QF sectors are usually a UK-based crew who are paid less than their Aussie counterparts.

New amaysim roaming plans April 2023

I've had that delayed text message issue before on Optus roaming in the UK, and exactly the same issue with needing a SMS code that often expires within a few minutes. Sometimes making a phone call will trigger them to come through, or try switching networks to manually connect to another local...

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

I did the LHR-PER-MEL flight a few years ago (when it was still the 787 PER-MEL) and found it tedious having to collect and re-check bags in PER. In the other direction I found the pre 5am landing into LHR to be tedious. At least the CDG flights seem slightly better timed for a 7am local...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Interesting. Does it then wait in Fiji for weather in AKL to improve and then continue to AKL? Or will they refuel in NAN and then go straight onto Sydney instead? Looks like Hawaii would have been closer for them if it was an emergency.

New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

What am I missing here - Qantas has been flying to Rome since 2022?

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Yesterday's QF1 returned to Singapore shortly after takeoff and cancelled. The return QF2 from LHR is therefore also cancelled today as the aircraft is assumedly still in Singapore.

    SCAM $99.50 Gift from QANTAS??

These scams are going around again I have one in my inbox today saying: "In celebration of our 103rd year, we are excited to offer a special gift coupon worth 99.5 AUD to 20,000 clients who have been randomly selected by our system." Then there's a link to "Claim Now" which I haven't clicked on...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF10 from LHR to PER delayed overnight (21 hour delay) to depart 9am tomorrow.

    eSims, what is your experience.

The only reason I went Amaysim over Felix was because Felix has a much smaller list of countries that they allow roaming in.

Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash?

Amusingly many UK bank ATM's have signs saying "Free Cash" - which sadly just means no fees. And the advice about avoiding non-bank ATMs goes for pretty much all countries I think.

New amaysim roaming plans April 2023

For EU roaming included you can get PAYG with ID Mobile or 1p Mobile, or 1 month contract SIMs on Smarty Mobile. 3 PAYG SIMs include worldwide roaming but they limit data speeds and restrict streaming, file sharing and VPNs - see...

New amaysim roaming plans April 2023

Yes can turn off auto network selection and manually select EE and it will connect, so no big deal. Loss of 5G would be more annoying if I was stuck to one UK network, but with being able to switch between the UK networks to find the best 4G it's also no big deal.

New amaysim roaming plans April 2023

I switched from Optus to Amaysim a few days ago in the UK, using a 12 month starter pack I'd bought from Woolies a few months ago. Can confirm my phone now only connects to 4G while roaming, whereas previously roaming via Optus my phone would connect to 5G here. Also another difference I...

Aussie carriers that work well in the UK?

Optus worked great for me when roaming in the UK & EU, but they've axed all their plans with included roaming now, finally killing off the Qantas plan with 5GB/month included roaming data. Fun fact, my Optus phone on roaming often got better coverage and data speeds than my local UK phone in...

New amaysim roaming plans April 2023

Oh interesting, hopefully it's the same as Optus when roaming. Edit: Most of their 28-day plans include 5G but I bought a 12-month SIM plan which only includes 4G. Unsure if that restriction is also applied when roaming or if it's just in Australia.

New amaysim roaming plans April 2023

Does anyone know if Amaysim roaming includes 5G network coverage when on UK / Europe networks, or if it only connects to 4G like when in Australia? When I was roaming on Optus I could get 5G from EE, O2, 3 UK (and swap local networks whenever I wanted/needed, only exception - it would never...

Fairer & Simpler Enhanced QFF Optus Plans effective 12 April 2024

I didn't care about the Qantas points, but this was the only plan on the market that included unlimited roaming calls/texts and 5GB of monthly roaming data upfront. A very useful plan for someone who spends most of the year overseas but needs to make and receive calls from Australian numbers...
