Qantas' Impending Change to Tokyo Flight Schedule

I think it would make sense for QF to operate SYD-KIX (or CTS seasonal?) and JQ to move to SYD-NRT. I saw someone mention SYD-NRT A380 which seems unlikely (but I would love it - sounds like fun).

Qantas' Impending Change to Tokyo Flight Schedule

Subjectively yes - always finding "I" space to get a Platinum CR seat released on the daytime flights, but always a struggle on the overnight flights.

Qantas' Impending Change to Tokyo Flight Schedule

Do we think they'll add a SYD/NRT? I assume there's enough demand they wouldn't go from double -> single daily, unless a 787 makes up for it (can't imagine it does...)

Qantas Club Lifetime Membership Benefits Removal

This is surprising as Qantas Club membership has always allowed 1 guest, even now.

    CI A350 + Cathay A330 vs JAL 787-8 J

I don't know if it still happens, but last time I checked (last year) JAL would sometimes swaps out the MEL-NRT 787-8 from Sky Suite to Shell Flat Neo (angle flat) seats. Anyway, I'd pick the CI + CX option because I actually really enjoy the CI business class. Main reason to pick the JL option...

    Cathay Pacific 4-Class 77W Brisbane

I was unable to get it by calling when I flew earlier this year, but I was successful asking them on WhatsApp. I think it's just random chance whether you get an agent who will do it or not. I was on a cash J fare.

ANA Old 777-300ER 2-4-3 Economy Class

I wouldn't be sure if the newer 3-4-3 configuration is better in Economy, although it sure is better in Business. It really is annoying (experienced this myself last year when I went to the US in ANA) that ANA seems to still be flying quite a few aircraft transpacific with the old configuration...

Qantas change fee to increase on 30 July 2025

I don't think so, it was increased from $65 to $77 in 2013 (QF Change fee increase from 18th Sep), can't currently find when it got increased to $99. Anyway, I'd like to see Qantas reduce the cost of purchasing a flexible ticket on their domestic flights - I wouldn't be worrying about changes...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

The scanners at Hobart are on the sides of the lanes, not between them, so she couldn't see my boarding pass as she was standing on the other side of the economy queue from me.

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

To be clear, I was in the front of the priority queue - it's just nobody was there, and when I got the attention of the person handling the economy queue, she just gestures at the economy queue.

Has Google Maps Lost the Plot

I mean, it's possible it's a bug, but I find generally the explanation is one of; Your GPS location is a bit off and is near the station but not in the station. It thinks you have to go all the way around to a crossing to get to the train station or something stupid, so it decides it's better...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Dinner on last night's VA1537 (HBA-SYD) Food was great, although wish VA did 3 choices instead of just one VG and one non-VG FA was nice and friendly, although when I declined their offer of alcohol / wine, they followed up with a lot of "are you sure", "it's still sunday" etc. - I'm sure...

    Qantas Hotels - Seriously WTF?

From looking at the code, it looks like Qantas Hotels passes coordinates (30.516281, 103.992002) to Google Maps for display, not the address. As noted previously, Google Maps displays this with an offset due to the obfuscation of map data used in China mentioned earlier, but this doesn't explain...

JAL 777-300ER back on Sydney route

OK, in that case it sounds like a genuine delay then and not due to potentially landing before the curfew, since if it was just the curfew then they should've still arrived on time.

JAL 777-300ER back on Sydney route

Did it arrive on time though? If so I reckon it doesn't really matter. I find JL51 never leaves on time but still arrives on time because their schedule is so padded. If they leave at the scheduled time, the padding means they arrive too early for SYD as the scheduled arrival time is already...

    Qantas' New A321XLR

I'm basing this on what analyticflying has claimed in their article here and they seem to know what they're talking about. I think @evanb is the writer there so could comment more here.

    Qantas' New A321XLR

As I understand, the regular 321N will be a bit limited for transcon ops (and maybe Queenstown/Wellington etc.?) when taking into account freight etc. The LR has reduced freight volume due to the fuel tank placement, hence Qantas deciding on the XLR which doesn't have this limitation.
