QF now charging WP for all Exit Row economy seats [CL/WP1 exempt]

Actually in a rare bout of unbridled honesty I have to agree with you. From a maximising safety aspect I'd suggest airlines should perhaps, as a matter of protocol, put off-duty crew into exit rows before they stick them in other seats (i.e. J).

The Qantas American Express Ultimate Card 75k Points + 75 SC Bonus (Qantas)

Just got mine yesterday, flight taken early April! I wasn't eligible for the bonus points as I cancelled my premium card in February and applied for the ultimate card a week later but according to the T&Cs the bonus SCs should still have been applicable, and yup, they were :)

    Inflation of frequent flyer points

Is that using Qantas points or other FF programs? SWMBO and I have solid QFF points hauls, however as it's the international redemptions we're looking for, starting to wonder whether we should be using other FF programs?......

The Qantas American Express Ultimate Card 75k Points + 75 SC Bonus (Qantas)

The T&C's state 8-10 weeks, presumably from the date of the return flight. I took the flight a week into April, no SCs yet here either, think I'll wait until 10 weeks have lapsed before calling AMEX.

How much is oneworld sapphire worth?

You could also work backwards and work out how much value you get from it and then what percentage of that you're prepared to pay? For example, my partner and I typically have two glasses of bubbles/wine each and assorted food which might be $90 value (say 4 gls booze at $12.50 = $50, plus 2...

    Qantas Wine latest offering

Yes, really lovely early drinking style. Just the right amount of gamey, savoury and young fruit flavours. Campbell Mattinson gave the 2015 a v good review. Bought a case on spec for my better half who prefers Pinot Noir when it comes to reds and she loves it, partially as it has so few tannins...

QANTAS to launch their own credit card in tie-up with Citibank

Ahhh, think it's always been like that. I sincerely think the primary motive behind Fysh, McGinness and McMaster back in 1920 was to make money, not promote flying per se. Of course one could argue there are sovereign reasons for a government owned flag carrier to have motives other than the...

Speculation: QF to axe MEL First lounge?

I can't see QF ever getting rid of Flounge in MEL, unless they get rid of it everywhere as part of a global removal of all F. Honestly though QF is just going to have to invest more in MEL - Melbourne is growing at over 100,000 people per year and is realistically unlikely to slow down for...

When did you decide to go for lifetime gold with Qantas?

When I first joined AFF I assumed that I'd get LTG sooner or later but now I'm starting to wonder whether to bother trying to go for it. I joined QFF 4 years ago and have 1500 odd SC's. A slow start but now averaging around 800 SCs a year. Not enough to really try for (and maintain) WP and a...

Using points to retain Platinum ...

Agree, flexibility needs to be there. An airline would prefer a variable frequent flyer to a disgruntled frequent flyer over the long term. And airlines are a long term business (four A330-800s cost a billion, no short term ROI there!). For example, I can see us flying 800-1000 SCs every other...

Using points to retain Platinum ...

If I was a FIFO I'd be prepared to pay the $17 difference for the SCs! I consume far more than $17 value from the QP every flight! :D

Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

Quite likely. I find it hard to believe that Qantas sees LTG as a liability and a cost burden. I'm guessing most who have made it to LTG are either more likely to be all over the upgrading to J caper, or wanting to keep platinum, or more able to afford J, in which case LTG is not even necessary...

Using points to retain Platinum ...

I wonder this too. I thought there were more WPs and P1s than you could poke a stick at flying in and out of PER but the other week I managed to get my family of 4 upgraded to J MEL to PER and I'm only SG. Maybe the significant drop in FIFO workers following the mining slowdown has really...

Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

Good work! My first thoughts were wow, 1200 odd SCs in just 10-11 weeks, but I guess that's obtainable with say just 2 J flights to LHR. Unless it was domestic Y, then double wow :D

Using points to retain Platinum ...

Interesting concept, though in the particular case of the OP I wouldn't say it's cheapening WP at all - the OP has earned WP 6 years in a row and many WPs on here would certainly expect a comp for their 7th year if they were short and never received one before. I believe at least one AFFer has...

QF AMEX Ultimate Card - 100k bonus

Does anyone know if the bonus SC's post in the status year following the flight that triggers them, whether they retroactively apply to the status year flown or do they apply to the new year? If that sounds confusing, say I fly in June, status anniversary is June 30th 2017 and the bonus 75 SCs...
