I think they'll move more staff downstairs to the temporary desks near the baggage claim, they are hardly used but are setup with kiosks and bag drop possible for both VA/JQ.

This is correct you’ll be upgraded, the website does provide a clear enough explanation of it. Noting that the 1500 must be earned by you (family pooling doesn’t count).

I had something similar on an NRT flight. It gave some great self service options including rebooking on JAL instead of QF but I decided to cancel the reward seat instead.

Yep no intention of opening a new card just curious and trying to understand the promo. QF has had similar in the past with a 20k bonus and that bonus comes from QF meaning just 1 point from the card needs to post to get the bonus.

Are the bonus points coming from Velocity or the card provider? For example if I open an Amex but already have one obviously won't get the Amex bonus but if this comes from Velocity would get the "extra bonus" points?
