    Adelaide QP (Domestic)

My father flew through Adelaide today and the Qantas staff advised that "it may not be until next year" as to when the terminal opens. Obviously no-one wants to commit to a date.

    Boeing jet sets flight record

22 hours on a flight does not appeal. That said, doing two legs of 24 hours plus a 2 hour stopover in humid airport doesn't rate high on my list of things to do either. The first may be the lessor of two evils.

    Lord Howe Island on points

Thanks for your tips. LHI is not an easy place to get standard accomadation quotes and they proudly quote that "only 400 visitors are allowed on the island at any one time". I do not think the ACCC has had a good look there yet. It would appear that anyone is better off taking a package deal...

    What's the weather like now?

In SYD today we had a very heavy storm between 4.50pm and 4.58pm. I left a meeting without an umbrella at 4.50pm and got on my bus at 4.58pm.

QP access at end of journey

2 weeks ago in CBR I booked a meeting room for a few phone calls where I needed a desk and some quiet. They charged me $20 for the hour - whilst I was flying, they seemed far more interested in the $$ than anything else - maybe some QP staff have been transferred to CBR from MEL ?

    Kids on board!!!!

Thanks for the tips - it will be a year or so before she is ferreting around the cabin stealing people's shoes, I'll go for the bassinet to keep the hands free for the odd refreshment. One person I spoke to mentioned that after a LHR-SYD trip (they were relocating back here) their 3 month old...

    Famous people met/seen while flying.

I thnik we should refrain from referring to politicians as celebs on this topic. Mind you, I often fly SYD-CBR and if my employer stumped up whatever it costs for a 32 minute J class flight I might feel like a bit of a celeb too. It must be the shortest J sector in the world?

Do you talk to people on planes?

I am concious of always being more willing to talk in J rather than Y. Maybe it is a space thing? A few decent wines always help!

    Kids on board!!!!

Unfortunately for everyone else, I have now graduated into being one of those travellers with a small child. I am making my first dom flight with her next week when she will be 3 weeks old. In booking with Qantas, they advised that they would enter my request for a seat up the front so that I...

I assume by now some of us have found and even been through ADL - what is it like ?

Qantas does lurk on the AFF Board

Thanks Lindsay, I am obviously new to the board but from my experiences so far, it should be viewed as a great resource by Qantas et al. Whilst I have spent $80,000 on travel myself this year - business and pleasure, I have direct control over another $60,000 or so in my organisation. I...

    Lord Howe Island on points

Thanks Mal, I assume someone has done a calc on the best use for points and a table exists somewhere - is International upgrades from Y to J the best in terms of cents per point?
  14. S

    Just short of Gold again!

I was in the same boat (plane?) for a few years running and never really noticed the difference. If it meant I missed out on one upgrade for the year or had to sit 3 extra rows back..... As long as I had access to the QP and could have a shower on the way to Europe or NY....

    Lord Howe Island on points

On the website I'm being quoted around $800 return and yet if I can get a seat it will be only 16000 points. Why pay with $ unless accomodation is over the top unless it is packaged?

Syd Checking in Business Lane for WP and GOLD

Re: Some things change, some things stay the same (eventuall ...one other thing - Serfty where do I go on this site to understand what classes and statuses are for each of your abbreviations?

    Lord Howe Island on points

Availability seems pretty tough, but has anyone used points to go to Lord Howe Island? I certainly wouldn't want to pay the fares but it may be a different sort long weekend out of Syd - what is it like?

So my recently acquired plat status has come down a notch ? :x

    Benefits of Platinum Status

thanks - I do recall the frustration of not being allowed in the QC to farewell a family member depart on one trip and the CX lounge in HK is worth it given the alternative.

    Benefits of Platinum Status

I have been a QC Life member for some time, so never really valued Gold membership which I've largely maintained for the past few years. After some recent periods of heavier travel I've finally passed through to the next level although the overt benefits seem few. I know you get: Bus. check...
