    Transferring in HKG

Have transferred ex QF97 BNE/HKG to CX888 to YVR on separate pnrs HLO. We had both done a phone checkin for CX but for some reason SO couldn't retrieve the QR code on his phone when we got to transit security. We also had an OLCI b/pass however you can't show that on your phone as OLCI...

Transferring in BKK and rechecking luggage

QF have both an interline baggage agreement for bags if on the same booking plus an IATCI agreement so you should even get your VN boarding pass BKK/HAN. Maybe they're getting confused with separate tickets and that's being nice. As long as the VN flight appears as oncarriage in Altea bags...

Should I be upset or am I being unreasonable?

I guess that there could potentially be two kinds of upset. The first upset at QR being late posting said flight to QF and the second being QF F Lounge not accepting that QR late in posting therefore not WP as yet and potentially denying entry to lounge.

Should I be upset or am I being unreasonable?

Does your frequent flyer statement show the QR flight DOH/xx_ with zero SC and points or is it missing entirely?

QF one leg change [cancel outbound of return]

I wouldn't waste any more of your time calling the airline otherwise they'll just refer you back to your TA. Just get yourself to HKG and email the TA to contact their QF industry contact to confirm that your HKG to Aust flight is still confirmed. Make sure TA tells QF of the compassionate...

Got stung by a rookie mistake [passport < 6 months to expiry]

Could be because SIN has the 6 month rule. Lucky it ended well but could easily have backfired as you can't obtain business visas on arrival for Indonesia. It could've easily gone the other way when you said you were there for business ending with both of you being frogmarched back on the plane.

Check-in baggage direct transfer from SYD to NRT?

You won't need to collect your bags in BNE but make sure you checkin at a counter with a CSA at SYD T3 not a kiosk. In BNE just take the free terminal transfer bus to international right out front of the terminal.

    Mother and child different surnames

I thought you were going to say "now when we go through immigration we take the birth certificate in our hand luggage." ;)

HKG fuel surcharges are back (Bye bye cheap redemptions)

I was pricing CX award flights (using QF points) one way in J ex the USA to HKG recently and taxes were around USD88.00 per person. We ended up doing LAX AA x/HKG QF BNE for 128K points and AUD76.00 in taxes. I don't consider these prices excessive as far as co-payments go for awards and as...

Any chance of making 11am depart flight ADL on an 11am arriving?

Flights may be padded eg BNE/SYD may allow 1.30hr even if the actual time in the air is around one hour but that's more for the taxiing out from the gate until take-off then taxiing to the gate after landing, not so they can pushback late waiting for fail to board pax. As it's a separate pnr...

Qantas F/F points and Status Credits [IRROPS rebooked China Southern]

You should be able to claim original routing credit with QF for the QR flights due to the involuntary re-route. It may be worth signing up with CZ's freq flyer program to claim points retroactively for the CZ flights you took so in effect giving you two bites of the cherry. You generally can...

    Mother and child different surnames

I remember Royal Brunei needed documentation for a parent travelling solo with a different surname to the child when travelling to the Philippines but no issues if the parent travelling had same surname. From memory I think a full birth certificate was sufficient showing that the parent with the...

Long Transit Hong Kong approx 12 hours

Had a long transit in HKG on 18 Sep ex LAX on AA193 connecting to QF98 to BNE. Was contemplating going into town but thought there may still have been a bit of damage around the place after the typhoon plus we would have had to store our hand luggage somewhere. In the end we did a bit of a...

Got stung by a rookie mistake [passport < 6 months to expiry]

Were these instances at the actual port of embarkation for the USA or were the pax checking in for a domestic flight first? If the airline wasn't sure they could've always called the US CBP number and asked them however don't know why the CSA's didn't just go off the info in Timatic. Was...

Is it both you and your wife who already have a LAX/SYD ticket booked ie would the two of you need to fly SYD/NYC/LAX? Do you have any QF ff points available to redeem? What about other programs or credit card points eg Velocity or Amex? There is a Qantas Sale fare SYD/HKG/SYD for AUD709.00...

Has anyone seen anybody kicked out of the priority check in counters?

Quite often it's the kids that are on the ball rather than the parents. I've seen a CSA at the J checkin counter (no J pax waiting in queue) call forward a family from the whY queue to serve them. One of the kids said "Dad, that's the business class queue" maybe not realising they'd been called...

Another Dubai fiasco [PAX deported after trying to enter with expired passport]

I'm now wondering when the expired Swedish passport made an appearance. She said she handed over the Iranian passport which is what she'd used on her last visit. It was pointed out to her that the visa in this passport had expired as it was for a single entry visit only. Sounds like one...

Another Dubai fiasco [PAX deported after trying to enter with expired passport]

In one of the original stories she claimed it was a blood test and she didn't think the needle "looked clean" however can't find that quote anywhere in any of those articles. There are just so many contradications hard to believe anything. In one of video clips with the UK press she says "Dubai...
