"Enhancements" to MR earn on Platinum Card, Reserve & Centurian

Fortunately there's some anomalies in regards to the merchant categories that can work in your favour as well. I certainly know of one merchant with the Platinum Edge card where I've been earning 3 points per dollar, where it's unclear to me whether or not they should actually be in that category.

Until Oct 7th, 2012: Double points offers at Woolworths Everyday Rewards Cards

Re: Double points offers at Woolworths Everyday Rewards Cards I received the above offer today as well. I notice that the posting timeframe for the bonus points would be past the renewal date for the card for me, which might be part of the plan for the timing of the offer.

David Jones American Express Platinum card - by end2012

As outlined above, it certainly looks like you would need to have a significant spend at DJ's for it to even be worth considering the new card. For me the Platinum Edge remains a more appealing option.

Cost justification to renew my Amex Charge Platinum

It might just be a coincidence, but changes have certainly conincided with the appointment of a new Managing Director for AMEX Australia back in February. Even when I called to cancel my Platinum Charge Card in May I was offered a $450 renewal (which I declined), but it seems since then they've...

    Investec QF offer

If you were interested in getting an unlimited Priority Pass anyway the Investec Signature Card isn't too bad, given the unlimited Priority Pass goes for US$399 by itself (even with discount it's usually still over US$300). The Platinum Card doesn't look particuarly exciting though unless I'm...

Why do you transfer CC points to QFF?

With the taxes and surcharges Qantas charge for redemptions these days it's strictly JASA's for me now (until they cancel or shift the SYD-CGK route to J* anyway, then it's time to start dusting off the Krisflyer card methinks).

Almost at Platinum - worth me buying my way there?

Just to confirm, the points you buy from Points + Cash won't contribute to the 60,000 points needed for Platinum qualification. You would need to buy the points from the Points.com portal for them to count (and at a significantly higher price). Given it's only a one night stay that you'll have...

    Exorbitant Online Booking Change Fees

I've noticed that for flights sold from CGK-SYD that the change fees are pretty much non-existant so long as you buy a Super Saver fare (US$25 if the ticket requires a reissue, but that's only if there's a change routing as part of the date change), and even on a Sale fare they're only US$50 for...

Does anyone have a Platinum Edge card? At my wits end with AMEX!

You won't be able to transfer points to Qantas with the regular Ascent program attached to the Platinum Edge card - you would need a Platinum Charge Card at a minimum to enable QFF transfers. You can transfer points to Virgin though and they will transfer 1 to 1 - so yes, $1 spend at Woolworths...

"Enhancements" to MR earn on Platinum Card, Reserve & Centurian

Re: "Enhancements" to Membership Rewards scheme for Platinum Card / Platinum Reserve I cancelled my Platinum Charge Card at the end of May - I was offered renewal for $450 but for me it still wasn't worth it. Sounds like they've tightened up even further since then.

    Air Asia

I'll add my voice to those that have been happy enough with what AirAsia offers. Like many others above I've seen plenty of parts of Asia that I otherwise wouldn't have due to the low fares on offer and often unique routes that they offer (though as mentioned above those secondary routes will...

InterContinental Hotels a possible bidder for Mantra Group

An interesting article at Suite talk is all positive - would certainly help arrest the current decline of properties for IHG in Australia and I'd imagine would lead to the introduction of the Candlewood and Staybridge brands into Australia as well. I guess we'll see soon enough whether or not...

how do you use your MR ascent points?

I find the transfer of points to SPG can be quite good value with the recent revaluation of 2 MR points = 1 SPG point, especially if the hotel you want to stay in has Cash + Points availability. Some also use it as a way to funnel points to US FF programs, which tend to have much better burn...

Platinum Card, what will I get for $900

I received an updated PDS in the mail last week - the PDS is listed as being effective from 15 March 2012, though the accompanying letter says for all trips booked from 1 October 2012. Changes seem to be pretty much in line with those for the Platinum Charge Card.

    Transferring Diners points to QFF?

It used to be possible to transfer from SPG to Qantas, but SPG dropped that option a couple of years ago unfortunately. I wouldn't hold my breath on this possibility unless SPG is making another change.

New Centurion Annual Fee, Joining Fee and Points Earning Structure

I've found availability quite good out of Sydney in Business Class - certainly easier than Qantas to get seats on in that sort of timeframe. With multiple flights out of Brisbane each day as well I'd imagine availability is quite good too. You can check on Krisflyer for availability without...

New Centurion Annual Fee, Joining Fee and Points Earning Structure

If you fly on Singapore Airlines it's 190,000 points for Business Class from the East Coast of Oz to London, with a 15% discount on that if you book online. It'd save you a trip to Sydney too, which is a nice bonus (especially given the transit in Sydney).

"Enhancements" to MR earn on Platinum Card, Reserve & Centurian

Re: "Enhancements" to Membership Rewards scheme for Platinum Card / Platinum Reserve Certainly makes me feel better about pulling the pin on the Charge Card when it recently came up for renewal. Looks like the Platinum Reserve will be getting dropped when it comes up for renewal now too.

    Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

I guess they're looking to sucker anyone who doesn't realise they'll be taking a 3% hit in the event that they do use it for overseas transactions (even if it's charged in AU$).

Wealth package now includes platinum according to phone rep but not the website

Looks like I'll have to make another call then if that's the case - worst that can happen is they say no.
