    Qantas to extend main meals

Disagree, I find it a significant difference between a meal vs a 4 mini crackers & dip as a typical refreshment.

Day trip to BKK on a longish transit

Catching the skytrain to the city is easy, fast (~25min) and super cheap, 45 Bhat I think. On arrival in BKK you can first go to the F lounge, shower & freshen up if needed, leave your hand luggage at the lounge, then make your way downstairs to arrivals / immigration. The lounge staff may...

Alitalia considering a return to Australia

Perhaps would be attractive to Skyteam loyal customers, though unlikely to be many in Australia, though there is always the Chinese carriers or KLM/AF codeshares. For me CX would be my preferred choice to get to Italy. QF/EK then maybe AY too.

    Baggage Enhancements [oneworld]

I also have experienced priority baggage as a OWS without needed to ask when travelling in Y. It seemed to go hand in hand with being able to use the business checkin counters. However it being an official OW policy is a positive IMO, and don't support views - well that's not really an...

Bali (Indonesia in general) [NOT] to be Visa free for Australians from Jan 2015

Re: Bali (as well as Indonesia in general) to be Visa free for Australians from Jan Woohoo, looking forward to my trip in July next year. Though am surprised this direct revenue is being sacrificed. Hope this is not compensated by another indirect cost.

US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Agree, perfect for a nice venture into HK city, alternative is to do a massive lounge hop - but 7 hours may be a tad OTT.

    Downgraded from Business Class.

The TA has had no role in the decision to downgrade, therefore I see no logical reason why the industry practice is for the airline to issue compensation back via the TA. Why can't an airline simply issue a refund direct to the customer. If any Agent fees need to be refunded, just portion that...

QANTAS MENUs - THE DEFINITIVE THREAD

I much prefer eggplant than chips. In J class, I would prefer to have food I may not have everyday.

    Advice on transits

Oops my bad, too many Vueves in the MEL EK lounge got me confused lol. I was thinking of the overnight MH SYD-KUL service, but got my flights mixed up.

Pulled off Flight and still 15min to go:(

Grant the flight boards are not controlled by VA, however as a customer, (most of whom are not AFF type folk would not no or care who controls the boards), this is communication from VA. It's still VA's responsibility IMO to ensure the third party are displaying accurate information on their...

    Advice on transits

In KUL, I would expect the train shuttle between main & satellite terminals to run 24/7. Technically the MH Satellite lounge is open 24/7 and there should be many post midnight departures to Europe, plus a few arrivals in the wee hours of the morning, eg EK from MEL arrives ~ 4am.

Songs that go through your head in certain places

Obvious one but still a good one, New York - New York! Save me San Francisco, by Train. When the lyrics refer to 'the Tenderloin...' I can definitely relate. Cocacabana, Rio...

Flying oneworld around Europe - worth it?

From limited experience, I found Air Berlin quite expensive for last minute, make up your itinerary as you go type travel, especially for direct flights into TXL or DUS. However I've seen my friend who lives in Berlin get bargain flights by planning ahead and taking lots of long weekends away to...

'Hilton on the Park' to become 'Pullman on the Park' - 1st January 2015

Accor seems very focused on extending its Pullman brand in Australia. First Brisbane King George Sq, then Sydney Hyde Park, now Melbourne. Definitely a plus for Accor members, instant or loyal.

    Qantas Club access post flight

Yes HLO extra long weekend trips to Asia mostly (think back to QF Expedia Br deal) where I minimise how much leave I have to use up by putting myself through a day of misery at work after an overnight flight from Asia. In SYD, I just hop on the train to get to domestic.

    Qantas Club access post flight

My occasional work trip is SYD-MEL, usually a 6am flight. I time my arrival in Sydney to have 5 min in lounge before boarding. On arrival in MEL, pop by the lounge, use toilet, have s cuppa and and maybe something to eat, out within 15min. Shower after int flight is also good, if heading...

    QF codeshares on EK

I've done the SYD-MEL QF 10pm-11:30pm, connected to QF codeshare EK MEL-KUL service twice in the last 18 mths. This itinerary much more likely to show up on TA sites such as Expedia. A great way for me to work all day and avoid a night in a hotel for a quick long weekend getaway to Asia.

    Downgraded from Business Class.

Fair game to criticise the unfair compensation structure, but to refer to 'psychological trauma' for flying Y - oh come on, have done perspective. That is not trauma.

US Dividend Miles - Oneworld Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

In Sep I did this itinerary CDG-DOH-PVG (QR) PVG-NRT-SYD (JL) Based on my above being allowed try: DOH-HKG (then MEL with CX or QF) with CX is quicker buy I read on FlyerTalk, USDM can't see these CX flights, might be solved by now... Others you could try DOH-DXB-HKG-SYD DOH-BKK/SIN-SYD...

Qantas removes Apple iMacs from all Sydney lounges

I personally find pc's with printer connected very useful at international lounges. I often book hotels, even flights as I travel, and if unable to access a printer at hotel to print itinerary (always safer to have printed copies when overseas), then I rely on printing at the airport lounge.
