    Virgin Flight Refund

Useful to read. Chargebacks can still be sort even if the entity is in Voluntary Administration? I imagine a lot of people will be in this position. I have a BNE-LAX-LAS return in November booked in February, I can't see that flight happening but also cant' see when they will officially cancel...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

I'm *not* a fan of the PM, and *am* a fan of VA, but I'll give him that. When you're right, you're right.

It's not illegal to not break a law, but it may certainly be electorally bad.

    Virgin Flight Refund

the minimum flight schedule saves them from being forced to cancel fares, and being forced to refund (voluntarily or through chargebacks) - can someone confirm that if the flight is changed significantly (moved to a different day) that a travelbank (aka unsecured creditor) is the best one can...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

the key line is "consider the issues... with respect to financial assistance and restructuring alternatives which are ongoing". The wording encapsulates all possibilities - including help from the business owners, from any commercial source of finance and the government. It appears the...

Last months status credits for shopping at Coles?

Surely demand is sky high at the moment - you can't walk through a coles without noticing how high the demand has been for goods - so surely they're good on that front for now - before the affects of a recession/depression are more keenly felt?

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

I'm afraid so. Best you can hope for is a credit card chargeback, but you'll need to refer to T&Cs of the card's policy to see if that's even possible. I need to find quality info on this myself (I called my CC provider, they couldn't provide any useful information). It will be more likely...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

It won't be quite that simple; think about the amount of income received in advance which is non-refundable. If they have your money, how much of that can be clawed back? There will be some wholly refundable tickets, but most will have stings attached. So by now a huge chunk of the 'unearned...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

Reading the financials shines a bit of light on this; attached the balance sheet, highlighted liability called to account at balance date for 'unearned revenue' (what is also sometimes referred to as 'income received in advance'). attached the note highlighting the the amount of 'unearned...

Virgin getting very HEAVY re completed credit card refunds. Sad to see.

That's good news - so chargebacks are able to be initiated after a company enters administration or liquidation.

I've done some searching and even phoned Amex trying to get an understanding of chargeback T&Cs. I want to understand exactly what they are and when they can/can't be used. Amex were disappointing on providing info RE chargebacks/raising disputes. The email they sent following the phone call...

State border closures illegal under the highest law in the country?

I've been searching up hill and dale, this is exactly what I've been looking for. Looks like if an individual could be proven to pose no health risk (if you could prove you were immune and not contagious) you could rely on the protection that you're not a public health risk and your...

State border closures illegal under the highest law in the country?

The actual hard borders I'm referring to relate currently to WA and QLD. There are still exceptions for the vital services you list, but not for someone who wants to journey to see their family across QLD or WA border unless its for exceptional reasons. Reading over Gratwick Joshon, travel for...

State border closures illegal under the highest law in the country?

Everything is arguable in law, doubly so in constitutional law. This is a matter for the high court. But here's my opening argument; Section 92 of the highest law in the country sets out "On the imposition of uniform duties of customs, trade, commerce, and intercourse among the States, whether...

Virgin getting very HEAVY re completed credit card refunds. Sad to see.

Is it correct that if you purchased a usual el cheapo fare class, even if the flight is cancelled you're not entitled to a refund and only a travel credit - therefore you could not enact a charge back? I wouldn't buy a travel credit from VA right now for more than 20c on the dollar.

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

This is a new development. Just yesterday at 6pm QLD time I took 60k points in the form of JB Hifi and DJs vouchers, and transferred the rest to SQ. Edit: the changes are happening rapidly - the restriction was applied in the last 12 hours, and Coles Myer temporarily returned, but now appears...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

Exactly, they have disclosure requirements to protect shareholders - but that doesn't mean they need to disclose much of the above, so we don't know a lot of things which would be significant right now - the same stuff the execs might be pouring over trying to work out what to do next (I have no...
