State border closures illegal under the highest law in the country?

The legal challenge is now crowd sourcing to cover legal costs in addition to the QC working Pro Bono. What a hilarious dystopia.

State border closures illegal under the highest law in the country?

I'll repeat my declared interest- my partner and family live interstate, and I live alone. I also have an interest in the ongoing preservation of Federation and functioning economy. :) We're all in this together (groan)

State border closures illegal under the highest law in the country?

It's not primarily about how much time, but rather the impact. Even if all restrictions were totally abolished this moment, the economic recovery would take years. Every day that passes does more damage to the economy which will cost lives. Hospitals go unbuilt, roads go unmaintained, people...

State border closures illegal under the highest law in the country?

It's hard to find genuine quality discussion about this issue in the press. The grown up discussion is that this is unfortunately not a choice between disaster vs. inconvenience, or health problem vs. economic problem. It's cataclysm vs. cataclysm. A virus which makes your lungs dissolve is...

State border closures illegal under the highest law in the country?

It's certainly arguable either way. And in terms of medical professional advice, there are experts on both sides, and there have been since the start of the pandemic. It seems more split now for sure. So each side has well informed experts - so how would the High Court decide? On which side...

State border closures illegal under the highest law in the country?

https://www.smh.com.au/national/legal-challenges-to-border-closures-have-legs-experts-say-20200525-p54w8a.html The point will come where the 'appropriateness' or 'suitability' of the blanket bans on border crossings will breach of Section 92 of the constitution. A source near Senator Hanson's...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

You got me. I've actually worked in both - but also read enough Dilbert comics to know bulldust when it's being kicked up. And I agree - you have to expect VA putting out the best possible news, they're right to do so. They're not going to send an email saying 'welp, we're toast' even if that...

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

This is the email I got - sounds identical to yours; --- Thank you for your patience as we waited for further direction from the administrators regarding your request for a refund or travel credit. As Virgin Australia Airlines is in voluntary administration, our ability to provide a refund or...

"So they did the best they could to put out the most positive thing they can without lying. " Marketing Depts are going to market.

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

Following the non-taking of flights over the weekend, and radio silence from VA, chargeback initiated. The card used was the WBC Altitude Black Mastercard. Disputed on the basis the goods/services were different from that We'll see how it pans out.

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

It's Ministry of Truth level stuff - but I try to look at it from the marketing team's side (or whats left of it); what else are they going to do? They're not going to admit that they can't really do anything useful, nor would they admit nothing is better than something - they're trying to keep...

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

Gotta say thats pretty unimpressive. One thing to be operating under duress, another to be going radio silent as a policy and standard process. They're obviously not too worried about damage to goodwill anymore - and under the circumstances, that's probably not irrational.

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

welp - if thats the way they want to go, happy to just proceed with chargebacks and let them burn bridges.

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

I spoke to GCC recently, explained the proposed flight change cut my trip in half and therefore was unsuitable. Staff member admitted that the service could not be provided as originally booked - no flights on Friday connecting BNE with PER, only Thurs or Sat, neither of which will meet...

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

I have a BNE PER flight for 22 May returning 25 May, booked 4 March originally. El cheapo fare class: TZGW0S With the rescheduling via Melboure, its now flying out 23 May, cutting the length of the trip down by more than half. My understanding is usually VA would be liable to refund the trip in...

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

I'm still waiting on gift cards ordered on the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th of April, did them one day at a time as the guidelines suggested. Going by what others have said, they're due any day now.

Is it Time to transfer/withdraw points from Velocity?

I was lucky enough to get my points out to SQ before it got real bad, so I'm now looking at just binning my WBC black velocity Mastercard, and replacing my platium velocity amex with one linked to SQ. I rang and asked them about this, and the process I must follow is cancel the old one, apply...

VA no longer issuing credits to travelbank (or anywhere else)

this is now getting a bit ridiculous. I've got three flights booked, BNE PER return later this month, BNE PER return in June, BNE LAS return in Nov. The BNE PER flights were for a weekend, fly out Friday night, back Sunday night. They have been changed to flying via MEL on Sat morning, back...
