I'm in the VA Lounge thread

It's been like that the last few times I've been in BNE in the AM... I'm guessing that's what works for them....unfortunately a fair few peeved punters who quit the queue though 😑

I'm in the VA Lounge thread

BNE lounge at 0515 is a bit busy - pupil-free day here in QLD for some strange reason, so unofficial long weekend for some 😑 Coffee line gets a bit long as they take orders in runs then are making accordingly. No one using the automatic machine that's on the back beverage counter though - the...

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

If you book via VA site it will be the VA codeshare number rather than the direct UA number. Fares may differ, and points/SC earned may differ: Points - United Airlines SC - United Airlines

    Velocity reinstates Singapore Airlines redemptions

Or be comfortable enough to book Y when it's available and cancel & rebook when J seats become available.

    Edge vs Velocity Platinum

YMMV - at least the $200 can be used wherever you want, whereas for VA pax you've got to use it on their flights and it doesn't credit points or SC. From BNE I have pretty much any destination except for WA, so it's a sweet deal.

    Edge vs Velocity Platinum

The Virgin Platinum AMEX also provides the annual return flight, which on our side I use for Mrs Hawk (as she's Red and we pool points & SC to me) when we travel together. That benefit alone is worth ~$200+ as I'll generally use it on a BNE-MEL return.

I'm in the VA Lounge thread

Happened a few Sundays ago (6 August) when I was heading north on VA999. Flight delayed to 2145 boarding but PA announcement at 2120 advising closing shortly and then contract staff (not the VA staffers) came by at 2130. Probably about 10-15 pax still in the lounge at that point. Got to the...

Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

Would BNE-CNS fit what REX want to do though? CNS is well served by QF, VA and JQ, and being a tourist destination it's already fairly price-sensitive. Originally I would have thought TSV might make more sense from BNE, however REX *does* have the QLD Government regulated routes predominantly...

Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

I'm assuming the 1215-1330 & 1415-1530 timings have to do with fleet availability? You'd think that if loads remain strong that REX would look to increase it soon enough.

Tokyo Haneda slot - How will Virgin Operate it? [CNS-HND flights ceased Feb '25]

This is where allowing J pax to pre-book their food would be useful. UA allow for this between 5-1 days prior to departure - worked well on every leg of my recent trip where I had it active.

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

If they're fresh, I've found them to be reasonable. Paired with baked beans they go alright as well.

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

I can't remember the last time I saw bacon in a VA lounge... :(

Velocity points now worthless in 2023 (extreme stealth devaluation)

It may be more about what's simplest to apply - easier to take points out of a Velocity account than charge sometimes credit card??

Velocity points now worthless in 2023 (extreme stealth devaluation)

Looks like the 7500 points is still charged manually if my Velocity account is anything to go by. I'm thinking you may have lucked out with someone not following the full process.

Velocity points now worthless in 2023 (extreme stealth devaluation)

Note that if you use VA's automated cancellation program then it will charge you 7,500 points for the cancellation. If you'd prefer to use cash (generally $60 fee) then you need to call and request. Did this with my recent US trip with UA rewards - booked BNE-SFO in Y and LAX-MEL-SYD return on...

The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Same experience here with a UA original routing credit request that I have raised on my current trip. Got transferred 4 times before I apparently found the right person, one of them admitting that whilst I've been transferred to the right department, she has not been trained on this...

Time for UA flights to post to Velocity Account?

As a datapoint I've had 7 UA legs so far this trip and they've all posted to Velocity within 48 hours. My flights yesterday had posted overnight, even accounting for my F to Y downgrade and re-routing.

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

Whilst I didn't get the opportunity to hit the United Club in SFO (in between SYD-SFO and SFO-IAH), the staff at DEN last night were quite happy to send me upstairs when the proverbial hit the fan. I had DFW-DEN-ONT booked in (domestic) F, however the DEN-ONT leg cancelled while I was airborne...

Virgin Australia FF - now based in US - help!

A couple of things: 1. You can use Velocity Points for UA reward flights, however outside of Australia to SFO/LAX, availability is VERY limited. 2. You can fly UA to credit to VA, and that would keep your Velocity points "safe" (as you'll have some activity there), however they won't count for...
