The Velocity Status Run Master thread

There is a triple status credits up now until Wednesday - HUGE: Triple Velocity Status Credits For 72 Hours This would mean one MEL-BNE-CNS return leg would get you Platinum...

The Velocity Status Run Master thread

If you're going to do CNS then make sure it via BNE rather than SYD, as BNE-MEL (857 miles) gets into the second level of SC (80SC in J) rather than the first (55). Direct MEL-CNS is 1432 miles, so still only 80SC. That would be 160SC each way rather than 135SC. Currently pricing out as $925...

    Economy X pricing

Rear of the plane is a PITA when it's announced on arrival that we're only disembarking from the forward doors today/tonight though. Much prefer to be forward half than back half if given the choice.

    Economy X pricing

I got that same survey and basically said that at $1 it's getting too expensive for "preferred seating" and at about $15 it's getting too expensive for Economy X. Tell them the numbers that you're prepared to pay and hopefully the survey results send someone in Revenue Management a message.

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

That's been a bit of a surprise for mine, considering the horrible timing of QF's offering to LAX, however considering that UA also runs BNE-SFO daily, it would take away the connecting pax who would do BNE-LAX otherwise I guess 😎

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

Wasn't expecting BNE-LAX to stay and BNE-SFO to remain at 7 days a week into the Australian winter. UA appears to have enough capacity via SYD or MEL (0600 or 0630 out of BNE with VA, connecting) to get to the US West Coast, along with BNE-SFO direct 3 days a week.

    Virgin Australia lounge in Cairns

Whilst there may be airlines that offer lounges for less, that's not VA. From memory, CNS is 12-14 domestic departures per day, whereas OOL is around 20 and the capital cities are busier than that again.

I'm in the VA Lounge thread

In BNE lounge for about the next hour (or until VA1265 gets called) - can guest 2. Chicken biryani + rice is the warm meal, and lounge is moderately busy today.

Up to 35,000 Velocity points for switching to AGL Energy

Close. QLD Govt owns the generators in this State and hence this is a good way of electioneering (we have an election in October) as well as helping your population out.

Velocity Frequent Flyer launches partnership with DiDi

TBH ride sharing is a bit of a lottery at the moment. Ola drivers were renowned for cancelling when Uber was surging, however Uber drivers are starting to be bad about it too - they'll accept a job, then call you to ask destination (which they're not allowed to do under the contracted...

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

Much as I've tried in the past, I believe you'd have more chance catching a flying pig. YMMV though. 😇 Direct on Polaris, not a chance. Whilst MEL-LAX or SFO will likely appear, I don't like your chances on the internal flights as well. The only direct SFO-FLL is an 11pm service ex-SFO, so...

How to book Velocity Amex free flight?

Yep. Generally not an issue. The ticket is issued and that's the end of the transaction.

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

I'd recommend making your booking in Y now (assuming there is availability) and then copping the $60 cancellation fee to then pick up a J fare if it appears (generally at T-14 days or T-21). At least that way you're getting to SFO.

Up to 35,000 Velocity points for switching to AGL Energy

How did you find OVO? I looked at moving to them mid-2023 but missed their (very good) offer and the next offer was line ball with my current provider.

Up to 35,000 Velocity points for switching to AGL Energy

Whilst 20,000 points would be nice, also have to take into account whether the rates are competitive or not. For myself in Brisbane, 38c/kWh peak, 25.84 shoulder and 24.82 off-peak isn't bad, however only 5c/kWh rebate for solar. TBH I'll be staying with Alinta, however YMMV.
