    Flybuys geo-blocks points transfers!

I don't understand how anyone justifies this line of thought. The point of joining a frequent flyer scheme is to travel. Therefore, there's a good chance that a points transfer originating outside Australia is because the user is travelling. Whether I click on the transfer link when I'm in...

    Flybuys geo-blocks points transfers!

I reported to VA that I thought it was bad for them, as it might make people less likely to take advantage of special offers and therefore more likely to use their Flybuys elsewhere. Not a big deal for me. I circumvented the blocking, but not everyone is set up to do that easily.

    Flybuys geo-blocks points transfers!

Just thought I'd warn others that Flybuys geo-blocks transfers, but not other parts of their web site. This way, if you receive a special offer while you are overseas, you need to be able to circumvent geo-blocking in order to take advantage of it. How can they be this stupid? It's inevitable...

July Flybuys 10% Velocity Transfer Bonus

I received an email today offering me 15%. It said it was specifically for the recipient of the email and that the extra 5% would post up to 4 weeks after 31st July. (Which I guess means up to 5 weeks later, since Virgin often fail to meet their own terms and conditions, even when the durations...

Same here. Tried two different versions of Firefox and a Kindle. None of them work.

Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion UA doesn't allowing going through North Asia to get to South Asia any more, so MEL-PVG-BKK is no longer valid. (Unfortunately, that makes some places impossible to get to (e.g. CEB) when the only *A carriers are from North Asia (e.g. OZ/CA/NH.)...

Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion Do LM have routing rules listed anywhere? I've used UA MileagePlus for years (originally by crediting flights to them and later by topping up when there's a 100% bonus offer or similar) and have only looked at LM as an option. With UA, you can...

Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion Assuming you could transfer the miles why would you use Avianca for this? Their SE Asia J is 40k each way. United charges 30k each way with the option of an extra stopover.

    Virgin Slow with points

What about all their non-airline partners? When Virgin has offers of bonuses with BP or Australia Post or whatever, they usually say we should allow up to 5 or 6 weeks for the bonus to post. They often fail to meet even that pathetic self-imposed deadline! I did the activation of Global Wallet...

    Melbourne SkyBus gone up again

Who does that?! And even then, they would be half the distance if the stop was in the closest corner of the building instead of hidden away as far away as possible in the opposite corner.

    Melbourne SkyBus gone up again

I'm sure they had to pay big bribes to Melbourne Airport to get them to put the public buses as far away as possible with no signage.

    Best airline to america?

That issue over cheap fares is a big one, since that means paying more for a points-earning fare. Plus, it's easy to get to 1P and get 100% bonus with UA, which wouldn't count on NZ. (... and also would mean not accruing 500-milers and CR1s.) BTW, addressing a few other points on this thread...

    Best airline to america?

Yep. I'm tall and a take a laptop with me (video on a 14" screen is better anyhow), so up to 36" and a seat free next to me is a much better deal. It'll depend on your priorities. I almost always fly midweek, because I consider the space next to me and primary and everything else below that. If...

    Best airline to america?

Actually, that's very hard to imagine. It's totally understandable that they drop it for non-UA elites, when other Star airlines don't (officially) give UA elites any similar benefit. It's been a long-standing benefit of using UA's scheme and flying UA and works to encourage people such as the...

    Travel agent booking fees

I use a tax accountant partly because he knows what he's doing and partly so that my taxes can be lodged as late as possible and I can pay my bill as late as possible. However, the comparison is reasonable. The more I give him to do and the more I use his knowledge, the more he charges. I...

    Best airline to america?

Assuming you accrued UA M+ miles on that trip, you're less than 5k away from Premier. One more flight from SYD and you can shift yourself into economy plus for all your remaining UA flights for the next year. With more leg room and the middle seats blocked off (unless needed), I'd say keep with...
