Qantas incorrectly requiring PCR test. Any point seeking a refund?

Not quite. Ireland removed the PCR test requirement as of 6 Jan, so it's almost 2 months now.

Article: What Happens to Frequent Flyer Points After You Die?

Fortunately, my dad was sensible enough to give me his Qantas account details before he died for me to transfer his points out. This is yet another area where US-based frequent flyer schemes are much better. The article is incorrect about some details. American, Alaska, United and Delta all...

Qantas to launch in-depth partnership with Accor ALL

Linked my accounts in November. Had an Accor stay in January. No Qantas points posted. Has anyone had to chase them up? Should I contact Accor or Qantas?

Amex Travel Credit - covid implication

An Amex Travel agent tells me that credits which are due to expire soon will not be lost if they are not used and that an announcement will be coming soon about what will be happening. (He said he couldn't give me any more details until the announcement is made publicly.)

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

Indeed. Hence the AZ issues (that are tiny) should have been ignored. Scare-mongering and mixed messages about AZ are ultimately the government's fault. The government should never have allowed that to happen without a sufficient alternate supply. The messaging about AZ for over 50s only one...

Predictions of when international flights may resume/bans lifted

I very rarely contact politicians, but I emailed my local Federal MP (Lib) some months ago and pointed out that the only important thing they had to do this year was to get everyone vaccinated and that, given the cost of lockdowns, no cost should be spared in obtaining necessary supplies by any...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

There are ways to obtain an ITIN where this is not true. Some financial companies may require customers to obtain an ITIN even though they have no requirement to file taxes due to being from a tax treaty country such as Australia.

    Jetstar 787's coming back?

A shame they implement it fraudulently by initially promising that all seats are available without an extra charge and then adding the charge when you actually try to get seat allocation, towards the end of the booking process.

    Jetstar 787's coming back?

Not working that way now. If I try to book a max bundle, it'll charge an extra $40 each way for those seats, even though the initial screen says that "any seat" is included!

No Spirits (in J) Masquerading as COVID? [Back from Apr 2022]

But what about dessert wine and port?

No Spirits (in J) Masquerading as COVID? [Back from Apr 2022]

PER flights to/from the east coast used to include dessert wine and port in business class. Are those gone too, or just spirits?

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Good Australian card options? There are none. They all disappeared when the RBA interfered in interchange pricing. The US credit card market is vastly more competitive than ours and there are zero Australian card options that can be called good compared to the US options. Have a look at...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've experienced some of that too. In one case, I only knew of the business at all because they were on Amex's small business map, yet they initially tried to refuse to accept it. When I pushed back they grudgingly allowed me to use it. (There was a "no Amex" label printed on the EFTPOS machine...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Lower processing charges? That's why CreditRewards, etc, don't accept overseas cards. Seriously? Flagged with whom? Just Domino's? And all my US cards, from multiple providers? The big give-away that this is rubbish is that the card that had been stored on my online profile for ages was erased...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

The "AplPay" is a bit of a hint that you processed it through that. (In store?) I'm talking about ordering and paying online. I doubt the card reader at the shop itself has changed. I'm guessing they are blocking all non-Australian cards, not specifically US ones, but I have no way to test...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've noticed that a number of major national chains (e.g Domino's) have stopped accepting US credit cards in the past few months. If this trend continues, it could make US cards less useful, or at least more painful to use. They probably think they can get away with it during the pandemic. Once...

Amex Travel Credit - covid implication

Sounds promising. I'll see how it goes. I never bother with travel insurance for domestic trips and I doubt anyone would cover Amex travel credits anyhow. (The flight was $1 less than my travel credit, so there is no cash component.) Result: Because it's Virgin, I get a travel credit and wait...

Amex Travel Credit - covid implication

The flight is not cancelled. It's within WA, which I can't enter in the first place. And it was paid with my travel credit, which would have originally expired by now, but would be extended to March if I'd not booking anything with it.

Amex Travel Credit - covid implication

I used my travel credit to book a flight that it will now be impossible to take. Does anyone have any experience with whether they are waiving any of the refund fees and such?
