    The totally off-topic thread

We have been selling off most of our Kobe and Yokohama properties recently and will do nicely out of it in AUD and EUR terms with thanks to recent exchange rate movements. These are mostly commercial properties, but one of our agents is Australian and she was telling us some information about...

UK - in or out of the EU? Travel Issues?

Re: UK - in or out of the EU? Calm down, Adam, and have another Flathead.

Should I stay or should I go (EuroZone)

I am pretty sure this was aimed at me, medhead, if that helps. The choice of the word "zealot" is... interesting. Not to mention the utter childishness of posting something like this. You are most welcome to your thread, marki, such as it is.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Re: Waitlist I think it was F. I just wanted to show what the difference between Waitlist availability and no availability at all looks like.

Re: Waitlist Assuming they don't have immediate availability, your options may look like this, and you just need to select the "Waitlist" option:

    The totally off-topic thread

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where the comedian converts to Judaism so he can tell Jewish jokes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Yada_Yada (Sorry I cannot quote some sort of scripture instead)

    Waitlisting V Certainty

You can waitlist your first choice first, then use the points to book your backup, and do a change by phone for a modest fee if your waitlist ends up clearing. That said, I don't particularly like the A380 J seats.

Tell me how to get to Chicago

You can add it, but like blackcat20 said, the points get added together as though you're doing two "trips". Same with something like MEL-SYD-SIN with the second flight on BA, you'll pay an extra 16,000 points for the MEL-SYD leg if you're doing it in J. No "penalty" if you do MEL-SYD-SIN all on QF.

Egyptair Flight MS804 Disappeared from Radar [New conclusion]

Son will need to reschedule. Another bullet dodged. My heart goes out to everyone involved.

Tell me how to get to Chicago

That happens because you're switching from QR to QF. Switches among AA, EK, and QF are "free" in that sense. (c) below is the relevant part. "Trip" means a series of one or more consecutive Flight Segments within an Itinerary: (a) that does not include: (i) a Stopover; or (ii) a Flight Segment...

Business Class Seats on A380 on Points

I've had problems booking JAL flights over the phone recently. This advice proved very helpful:

The 6:30am BNE-SYD is gone and I am not on it [No ESTA]

To me that still doesn't seem to preclude a double check-in, the first domestic, the second international. If JohnK proposed a short check-in at 05:40 or soon after for a 06:30 flight and was refused, then I find that quite surprising and at odds with my own recent experience. But the timeline...

The 6:30am BNE-SYD is gone and I am not on it [No ESTA]

Re: BNE-SYD-LAX-BNE VA Y US$266 on Orbitz [gone] Last week I flew CBR-MEL-AUH. I had around 3.5 hours in MEL and wanted to give my grandson a bulky present and also pick up some gifts from my son to take home with me. So I asked to be checked in for CBR-MEL only and it wasn't an issue. I'm...

Should I stay or should I go (EuroZone)

I find that response entirely unwarranted and condescending. I do hope that you can see the irony of attempting to quash my participation. I am quite confident that my family has suffered more at the hands of Muslim extremists (including in Europe and its near neighbors) than those of most of...

Should I stay or should I go (EuroZone)

In the interest of adding some balance. Mohammed Ali is a very good and smart man. Call for fair reporting on recent bombings | The RiotACT They were pointing out that the Taliban, Al Qaeda and ISIS kill many more Muslims than Christians and they gently point out that we, in Australia, have an...

Should I stay or should I go (EuroZone)

junbugging, I appreciate that your heart is in the right place, but you perhaps need to select your battles a little more judiciously. I also do not agree with most of what has been said here, but please recognize that this is just a very small corner of a small forum and not necessarily a good...

Should I stay or should I go (EuroZone)

Narrow-minded xenophobic babble has been allowed to stand, effectively turning this into an anti-Muslim thread. I ask that you also allow myself or others to challenge it if and when we have the energy to do so.

Should I stay or should I go (EuroZone)

Denouncement appears to be somewhat of a theme, so as a newly minted Australian I should probably take this opportunity to denounce this and the various other jingoistic babble above. If you take (say) an "average" US Christian and an "average" Nigerian Christian and introduce them to one...

Should I stay or should I go (EuroZone)

Freedom of thought and expression is clearly completely wasted on some people. It is no wonder Sikhs get bashed in this country for looking "different". Every single one of the thousands of Muslims I personally know is appalled by terrorism, whether Muslim-initiated or not.

Should I stay or should I go (EuroZone)

I understand the fear factor, but the world would perhaps be better off without all this radical stupidity. If you don't want to go to Europe, don't go. Your loss.
